Why do people hate this place? It's lovely! Garlic fries are not 19 dollars + they're amazing. Fantastic atmosphere and lovely service.

Came here for Portland Dumpling Week. The ambiance is very nice. They have a huge selection of alcohol. We got the Ruben pillow dumplings. I really like the puff pastry, the filling was alright. I'm personally not a fan of sauerkraut, but my friends enjoyed it. 4 for $12

I literally NEVER write yelp reviews, but I have to because this place was awesome!! I've had many Irish Coffee's in my life and this one was by far the best. Derrin is an amazing bar tender and made our experience in Portland so great. Highly recommend anything from Derrin!

Drinks were great and so was the service. The food menu was very limited, and we thought that taking the shepherd pie will be the best choice. Unfortunately, it was extra salty and preheated in the microwave and did not resemble anything like a shepherd pie... just a mash of ingredients. Really not a good choice which is surprising for an Irish pub.

On a recent trip to Portland I was walking down the street one rainy October morning and saw a restaurant that made my heart skip a beat, an Irish pub! All day long I looked forward to dinner. At a few minutes to 8, my son and I walked in. There was no host, just a crowd of bellowing people and one harassed- looking bartender. "It's just me tonight, so order at the bar". I've been to Ireland, and I know what Irish pubs are supposed to be, and this wasn't it. The vibe of the place WOULD have been nice if it wasn't filled with shrieking drinks. The place IS beautiful, but the clientele is less so. The shepherd's pie was ok, but small considering how he price, the pub burger which was supposedly waigu beef, was overcooked and tasteless. The fries were good, but why pay $19 for good fries and a mediocre burger. The beer selection was good, and the bartender did his best, but as a dining experience it left much to be desired. I don't blame the bartender for my less-than-adequate meal. These circumstances are caused by decisions of the owners. There are better places to eat that won't make your ears ring

Location, location, location! My son ran the Portland Marathon on Sunday, and it ended right by Paddy's so why not stop in for a Pint!! The place and service (and Pint) were awesome!!

Staff is great, food is great, and holy cow they have a ton of liquor! So much to choose from including beer and cider. Nice, dark, quiet place that could be very romantic for a date.

Preface: I was forced to come into downtown Portland, no choice. My teenager had a concert to attend at Pioneer Square and there was no way I was leaving her in that city, alone, for any amount of time. As usual, the screaming, drug addled sidewalk citizens greet us, and we politely drive on, eyes un-averted. We find a parking garage and there is no one sketchy on our floor -- win! We park and exit the building, and per Yelps recommendation, we make our way to Paddy's, just a few short blocks away. From the outside, the place looks nice, classy even, so it stands out from other businesses nearby. We pass people seated outside in the sunshine, with their dogs, sipping drinks. We enter and immediately feel at ease. Not only are we not going to be mugged or ambushed or step on a needle, we are gonna have a great time! Beautiful bar stools, friendly staff, it's nice and cool inside. We sit at a table and order beers and cocktails and appetizers. Everything is nice. The fried Brussel sprouts are crunchy and blue cheese and bacon on top are perfect accompaniments. The plate is big and there is more than enough for 2-3 people. My partner orders garlic fries - delish, especially when dipped in the garlic aioli (gonna ask for 2 sides of the sauce next time!). The parmesan on top is good but it would be even better if it were slightly melted. We order whiskeys and an Irish mule - all is good (I did miss the copper mugs with my Mule tho). The spirits menu is rather varied and they carry low end to very high end stuff. In my best Arnold voice "I'll be baack."

Food was horrible and over priced and service was slow! Do Not order the Nacho's dry and no beans

Friendly, comfortable, decent assortment of booze, very nice beers on draft, rock music on the PA. Plenty of outdoor seating.

Stumbled upon this Irish Pub near the waterfront. Visiting Fleet Week in Portland. Great ambiance, hip tunes, beautiful bar to look at. We had a Swedish Ale beer, shared a Sheppard Pie and husband had to have Poutine Fries. Food was great. Service was excellent. Overall an enjoyable and excellent experience. We will be back.

The Bartenders are awesome and the food was great! We popped in every night we were in town because we liked the casual/chill vibe! Will absolutely be back next time in town!:-)

This Irish bar was right next to our hotel and it was pretty good! We sat outside because we had our dog. The Shepard's pie was good and had a good salt level. The Caesar's salad was pretty standard. I really like my Irish Coffee! Nice and creamy and good strong whiskey.

I can't say much about the ambiance, the menu, or the service at Paddy's, as my one and only experience here (thus far) has been their St. Patrick's Day festival. A $25 cover is a bit steep, and the drinks served inside were smaller than I'd like, but it's a damn fine party. Live music all day, relatively quick lines, and a jovial, lively atmosphere. Their location in downtown is a bit of a bummer; I didn't even know they existed prior to this last weekend. However, what I saw (briefly) of the interior was warmly appointed and inviting, so I cam curious to return and check things out in a more subdued atmosphere. Whether or not they're a worthy rival to Kells, Kelly's and other storied Irish bars in Portland, has yet to be determined (to me, anyway).
