Terrible customer service from the hostess on the bakery side of the restaurant. She lied to me about an order being nearly finished for over 30 minutes, had a very snarky attitude when I politely asked for an eta, and then completely disappeared until another server had to tell me that the kitchen would have to reheat the order and it would be an additional 20 minutes minimum. Also, while I was waiting, I overheard them telling a customer they lost an entire cake they ordered in advance for their birthday. This place serves amazing food but they need to get their front of house in order.
This is a long time Portland restaurant known for their delicious food and over the top deserts. The service is professional and friendly. A great place to meet with friends in a cozy and inviting atmosphere.

Aparently Management and staff think it’s ok to change $12 for a 4 shoots latte after getting asked in what kind of cup should the Coffee be served, or if the Milk could go in a diferent cup than the coffee, i dont think even a real fine dinning restaurant charges $12 for a latte, service also is disappointing, not everyone off course but couple times you find people there with a not very friendly attitude like they are making you a favor for letting you get and seat in the Restaurant to pay $12 for a very very very poor quality latte, so despite the desserts are good i wouldnt recommend this place at all if you are planning to enjoy a nice night out, def NOT the place, i give it couple chances asumming stress make the hostess moody some times or one of the waittress that seems more racist than rude honestly but the abuse overcharging things that are not even good it’s absurd!

We came in for dessert about 9pm on a Saturday night, knowing our party of six would have to wait. It was worth it! We couldn't make up our mind about desserts so we ordered six different choices and had drinks. Such an eclectic part of SE Portland history. No one should miss it!
Parking: Be patient, and courteous of the neighborhood. You may have to walk but it's worth it.
Kid-friendliness: Well behaved children who are accustomed to restaurant dining, yes. Tables are close together and atmosphere is quiet.
Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible, at least from what we experienced

Odd that on our visit you were out of your signature French onion soup. Also were stunned that $7 was your price for a small bowl of lettuce leafs and a smattering of parmesan...

We sat at the booths by the cakes, so I can't speak for the whole atmosphere, but the bright, diner-like lighting wasn’t what I expected at 9pm—I’d have preferred a darker, cozier vibe. That aside, the service was friendly, the desserts were excellent, and the spiked hot apple cider was the best I’ve ever had!"

One of the most amazing little restaurants in Portland you can find. I love that it's not very well known outside of locals and that you need to have a local tell you about it.
I got this most delicious desert ever that one 100% vegan and to this day, I still dream about it.

Such a great spot, I can't say enough good things about Papa Haydn. They are known throughout Portland for their desserts, but dinner is always a safe bet also. A seasonal menu that never fails to hit a home run, I recommend Papa Haydn to everyone. 11/10 they will always have a special place in my heart.
Kid-friendliness: Not the best for families, better suited for date night.
Wheelchair accessibility: The entrance is tight, but accessible.

Went just to grab some to go dessert and feel like I'm missing the whole other side of what they could do. Their desserts are so note worthy, you need to make a stop if you're passing through. It was so hard to just pick a few, they all looked so good!
