It's a sad shadow of its former self. No longer is indoor seating allowed. One of the beers we ordered was very old and stale. I just dumped it. Everything is in pretty advanced disrepair. I'm not sure how it's still open... it makes me sad because this used to be a really fun and hopping place years ago.
The (I think) owner seems a little sensitive and unhinged but this place is nice for a coffee and reading a book.
Great little spot, quirky atmosphere. Get the apple pie and Rose Water Lemonade!
This place is truly a hidden gem. Serves delicious drinks (coffees, beers, wines, champagne cocktails ;), food and hookah. High recommend for a one stop shop.
Cool little place to visit if that’s what you’re here for. The hookah and service are really bad though. Giving one star because anybody knows you don’t heat a hookah with only one coal especially quick light coals. $20 is WAY overpriced when you can go to Mr. Hookah for $24 to not deal with any of this. Beware the one star reviews are insanely accurate…..
Very unique experience! We should have done more research but we were unaware that it was all outdoor so we were a little chilly. The decorations are fun and the tea is some of the tastiest loose leaf tea I have ever had. The customer service is a little off, but I would still recommend checking out!
Great location , terrible service. No longer do they have the eclectic indoor dining experience. When I inquired about hot spiced wine the guy (owner?) at the service window pointed to the menu hanging in one of the outdoor tents... Guess he couldn't be bothered to say "yes, we have that." He insisted I open a tab wich was silly as I only had cash. He said I was being difficult and that even elementary students have cards as payment. Long story short. I gave him 40 dollars for a drink that is 8 bucks to keep an open tab incase I wanted something else later. The outdoor seating was cold damp and not at all conducive to a comfortable outing. I tipped big hoping to kill him with kindness. Will someone let me know when he's dead? I'd like to take over, run this place properly and have it reach its full potential, bringing community together instead of alienating customers.
Rude service. I was eager to have a coffee there, I even told the cashier it was my first time.If it were a NY DELI...OK..but dude, it's portland. I was the ONLY one there...no need for your hate.....t just rude
Food and coffee is great. But cashier unnecessarily rude... I don't recommend this to anyone that expects to be treated well
Pied Cow has always been a good place to have a hookah in a gravel backyard. But if you want a cozy cafe, this isn't the place anymore. There is no longer indoor seating; someone perches in a window for people to order. They insisted my friend and I order at the same time, and gave us a bit of a frustrated speech about why, instead of giving me a chance to order. They took my cash and brought change to the table when we got our drinks, which I found to be awkward. Our hot drinks, while tasty, were served in pint glasses, and warm at best; I had to chug mine before it got tepid. Nobody ever stopped back to ask if we needed anything or pick up the check and tip after two hours. The waiter was running, which made me uncomfortable. I'm sorry to have seen this place take such a turn.

Staff refuses to let you cash out up front if you know that you’re not ordering anything else. When asked why they can’t just ring you up - so there’s no unfinished business and you can enjoy your experience with the ease of knowing you can simply leave when you’re finished - the staff reacted confrontationally and went on a tangent about it being a restaurant. This is literally the only business with Coffeehouse in its name that is committed to this inefficient process. Lean into convenience and honor simple customer requests. Otherwise the atmosphere and food were great.
The food was good, the prices were amazing, but the service was bad. My friend and I stood at the ordering window for 15 minutes with no employee recognizing we were there. The waiters passed us several times made eye contact and said nothing. It wasn’t until I said something they said “yes we have a few more orders to run out then we’ll take your order”. I wish they would’ve acknowledged us sooner
Had a lovely Brownie Burnadette Sunday and two pear ciders for under $20! Lovey little spot.
Service was good, pricing for beer was great and deserts looked really good. Just wish they didn't use instant coals for the hookah.
Great atmosphere, amazing dessert and coffee menu, cool patio with heaters and a very friendly cat! Highly recommend the Velvet Espresso: Tillamook vanilla ice cream with espresso!
