Great tacos! Great chips and guac. Busy and chaotic atmosphere, and it's sometimes hard to find parking, but the food is always awesome. We have dined in a couple times, but usually we get it to go on our way out of Portland.

Friendly service, Vibey outside seating, and Fabulous food... ¿Por Que No?
We stayed in the Mississippi District and the barbacoa flautas with homemade tortillas brought us back twice in two days haha the bean dip was delicious, appreciate the homemade chips and the salsita was flavorful!
Ceviche was delicous but portion was smaller than we are used to in Seattle.
Peach Guava aqua fresca was a fresh hit.
Will be back when in PDX!

I have mixed feelings about being refused service for a marg for smelling like weed while waiting for some to-go tacos while seeing various tourist Karens be served three margs at a time but ultimately, there's better places to get this kind of food in town that are cheaper and don't have awkward interactions.
It would have been less weird if I didn't have two staff members stare at me like a caged animal for smelling like I had smoked a joint in Portland. Your staff should try it, it's relaxing. Anyway, peace out, I'm never coming here again and ditched my tacos because the awkwardness you all created made me lose my appetite. Enjoy my money.
Edited to add: This place is no longer for locals AND tourists but is now catered entirely to moneyed out of state visitors. It's been real fun watching the city I've cared about for a dozen years completely lose its character.

Refreshingly authentic mexican food with great atmosphere, outdoor and indoor seating. Highly recommend their carnitas and the ceviche is incredible on a hot day.

Food here is very delicious and flavorful. We had the kids quesadilla, chips & salsa, and four tacos - Pollo Verde, Pollo Asado, Hongos Y Papas and Veduras. Everything was yummy. Maybe it's expected but for the price, I thought I'd get a slightly bigger taco.

I came in to grab my take out. I saw my name on one of the bags, grabbed it and just walked out. One of the employees ran after me and asked if I wanted any salsas. She could’ve let me walk away but I love that she made sure I got a salsa. A+ customer service!

I purchased a watermelon agua fresca which was tasty, perhaps on the sweet side. Dishes included a shrimp quesadilla and a shrimp taco. What is fantastic about Por Que No is that they don't overcomplicate dishes with tons of ingredients, but what ingredients are added are done beautifully. The shrimp were perfectly cooked tender not over chewy and delicately seasoned so their flavor came through so well. The taco was well balanced with spice and sweet pineapple. It is counter service with food brought to one's table and service was kind and efficient. It is the kind of place one comes back to again and again.

Por que no is a staple for us. Always perfect for getting together with friends and the menu has so many options so everyone can get what they want. It’s a little overpriced compared to other taco places I’ve been to and the portions are pretty small. That being said the salsa bar is always great.

The best Oaxaca Mexican tocos in Portland. No soybean oil, all natural ingredients, authentic food. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about their food. We are here all the time. The staff knows us by name and is always attentive to our dietary needs. Simply the best

Possibly my favorite restaurant in Portland and I make it a point to go every time I’m in town. The veggie bowl is so flavorful and delicious and a really good deal for the price! The service there is always so lovely, last time I ordered a salad for my friend but forgot to say no cheese and they made me a whole new one free of charge! Even though it was totally my mistake.

I'm a Portland Native and I used to love Por Que No, but the quality has gone down. It's always been super expensive for Mexican food, but the food was good so it was worth it. With the decline in the quality of the food it's no longer worth it. I went to two days ago with friends and was telling them how good it was going to be and it wasn't. The service also wasn't that good either at the front counter; we had to wait while the cashier chopped it up and had a drink while we stood there and just waited for her to acknowledge us and take our order. The ceviche had no flavor or salt and there was a straight hair in it, I took a picture of it (you can see it on the avocado); our whole table was curly haired girls so it wasn't from us and came to the table like that. The Tacos no longer have all the toppings they used to and the flavor was bland. Unfortunately this will be my last visit to Por Que No cause I can get better Mexican food at any Carniceria in Portland. The Tacos were giving a step above Baja fresh. In this economy I'm just not spending my hard earned money on bland food when I can cook better tacos and Mexican food at home. With all that said, the rice was good.
