¿Por Qué No? promised authentic Mexican food in the heart of Portland, ultimately it fell short of that promise. We ordered the Carne Asada, carnitas, shrimp, and queso asado tacos with chips and guacamole. The guacamole was adequate. The salsas were uninspired and lacking. The tacos however were lacking something to piece it all together, the meats were largely lacking flavor and character, with the carnitas just tasting like pulled pork which was very disappointing as they can be so much more(they lacked juiciness and crisp). The queso asado kinda just was there, nothing special just a solid half melted block of cheese in a tortilla with some sauce. The shrimp had some potential but I think its toppings would be better suited for a salmon based taco and the shrimp was pretty strongly fishy tasting which threw us off. Overall I wouldn’t recommend ¿Por Qué No? As a good representation of quality Mexican food but if you’re in the mood for some tacos and drinks with a big group then this place can do in a pinch.
Such a cute hidden gem if youre not familiarwith that neighborhood! But not hidden enough bc it definitely gets busy at lunch. I did the weekly special of the empanada con huevos and it was so good. The rice serving with it was flavorful and the empanada was soooo good.
Fantastic catering! Wonderful service when I was crunched for time ⏰
I LOVE this place and come back every time I’m in Portland. Delicious tacos with many varieties and awesome margaritas and agua fresca. Keep doing what you’re doing! 🔥🌮
So good!!!! we eat there every time we come to Portland! The Mt Tabor location is where my girl and I spent most of 2024....and now we're married ❤️
I love the tamales. Also very happy to see that they source their meat and fish from reputable places.
Rockin tacos every time. The melt in your mouth carnitas!

Very adorable and busy joint— Ordered at the counter inside and had food at our table in about 10 minutes. Some of the best tacos I’ve had in the Northwest. Great options for all, including veggie and vegan options. Agua Fresca is also a must!

Porque No is the best Mexican food with a Portland twist. It’s the best Mexican food Ive had outside of Mexico (they sent their chefs to study in Mexico). The tortillas are house made, the aguas frescas are a must. They also have Jarritos. For vegetarians or vegans, I recommend the Porque Plate (it’s easily customizable for vegan). They change up the veggies seasonally and use local produce. The chips and salsa are always good. The salsa is made fresh and is always changing. I recommend ordering extra tortillas. Any of their locations is good. Just go here. The line is worth it.
Food was delicious and staff was friendly. It was a fund place to grab a bite

Good food, great drinks. Although busy, food usually comes out quick. I like that there is tons of dog friendly outdoor seating.

Amazing tacos! great flavors, very creative. Kinda of expensive though could make the tacos a bit bigger to get the 5 stars ...

Very delicious food at reasonable prices
It had a good variety in the menu, not just your typical tex-mex dishes. The seating was mostly in covered stalls on the sidewalk, which was nice for the weather we had, but I couldn't really say it was a great atmosphere.
