¿Por Qué No? promised authentic Mexican food in the heart of Portland, ultimately it fell short of that promise. We ordered the Carne Asada, carnitas, shrimp, and queso asado tacos with chips and guacamole. The guacamole was adequate. The salsas were uninspired and lacking. Such a cute hidden gem if youre not familiarwith that neighborhood! But not hidden enough bc it definitely gets busy at lunch. I did the weekly special of the empanada con huevos and it was so good. The rice serving with it was flavorful and the empanada was soooo good.
Very adorable and busy joint— Ordered at the counter inside and had food at our table in about 10 minutes. Some of the best tacos I’ve had in the Northwest. Great options for all, including veggie and vegan options. Agua Fresca is also a must!
