Julia was very friendly, efficient and fun! Her drinks were fantastic and the backyard was comfy and felt like a friend's backyard. Great place to stop in and say hello.

The first time I came to this bar I asked the bartender for a double vodka soda in a pint glass. It was then that she said these prophetic words.. "young man, have you ever been here before?" "umm no, to be fair I haven't" "you don't have to worry about ordering a double here son, we make 'em strong" (spoiler alert: she's right) This was many years ago and while I can't say that my memory of every night at the Portway is sharp and clear as day, I can honestly say I cannot EVER remember getting a bad drink there (even their pours of wine are healthy) Sadly I'm writing this review in the midst of covid time, and let's be honest I'm pretty sure we can all think of a reason to get a stiff drink right now. That said, I enthusiastically recommend getting one at the Portway (which also has a great patio, no kids, a solid crowd, fantastic bartenders, and is just an all around fantastic place to have a few and forget this year ever happened)

Love the beer garden out back, but the only time I have ever eaten there has been after st.johns parade, but it was so good.

Locals' bar, definitely more bar than pub. Friendly people. Decent conversation. Classic rock.--No handicap accessible bathrooms, or maybe only technically.--
