Good taste, good service, good price

I’ve been going to Powell’s Seafood for 35 years and it’s our family “go to” place. I married into a Chinese family and my in-laws knew the owner and wait staff. However it changed owners a few years ago, so just not the same. Still good, but prices went up substantially and just doesn’t have the pull it once did.

Not as great as before. New owners...maybe New cook. ☹️ servings look small especially s&p squid...looked like left overs. We still ate them..still good but definitely on a downward slope.

The food here is always delicious, and the chef's skills are excellent. Today, we decided to try some dishes we hadn't had before. We ordered Steamed Clams ($22.95), Sesame Beef ($21.95), Sautéed Eggplant with Hot Garlic Sauce ($17.50), and Seafood Crispy Noodles ($14.50). Each dish was quite generous in portion, and they all came with rice, so we were absolutely full.
Personally, I liked the eggplant the most. As for the seafood crispy noodles, the version at East Harbor is much better. The beef had a strong flavor, so having it with rice was a must. The clams were actually quite large, more like hardshell clams, and since the sauce was simple, it might get a bit monotonous unless shared with a group.

Very good Chinese food. Not sugary, not Americanized.

I'm not sure if I got ripped off but I paid 98 dollars for a lobster here and there was no price in menu or I way for me to know

Every single dish we ordered was incredible. Really passionate and considerate staff. I trust all of the reviews mentioning how authentic it is--the member in our party who vouched for this place comes here regularly with his Chinese wife. Now I can see why!
Will definitely return when I get the chance.
Dishes I loved & recommend:
- Ginger & green onion lobster
- Pepper & salt squid
- Vermicelli noodle with shrimp roe
- Five spice beef brisket pot
- Sizzling egg tofu
- Steamed sliced lotus root with greens
