Located near Pioneer Square, Ramen Ryoma offers a menu of delicious ramen, some curry bowls, and Japanese appetizers. The restaurant is very welcoming, great staff, comfy tabels, and a bar area. The wait on the night I visited was not bad, less that 15 minutes. The food was superb. I order some teriyaki chicken skewers and a Spicy Umami Ramen. Both were superb. The ramen had the right mix of spicy and flavor with excellent ingredients. The Skewer were flavorful, nicely prepared, and delightful to eat. The stff was attentive and very pleasant. A definte oasis of socieability and charm. Worth the stop especially on a cold night with friends.

This was probably the best ramen I have had in Portland. Delicious broth; great noodles, meat, and fixins. Can’t wait to come back!

I've been burned by overhyped & under delivering Ramen shops before, but not this one. Ramen Ryoma in Portland was delicious, the service excellent, and the menu and ramen outstanding.
This is a great spot for heartwarming ramen in downtown, and the folks inside make it even more delicious

Great pub style atmosphere. Noodles have a perfect texture - not too tough, but not too soft. My favorite karaage in the city so far.

I really enjoyed the food I had here, though my partner less so. I got the curry rice bowl which was really flavourful (and I got the large size but didnt realize it would be that large!), and the takoyaki had this eggy sauce that I personally loved (I love eggs but I can imagine some people might not have liked it as much especially since you don't expect it to be like that). We got chicken karaage as well which was really good, though didn't come with enough sauce and we ended up asking for a takeout cup of sauce for the leftovers we took home. The ramen my partner got was disappointing though, we're not sure if it's just because he picked the wrong soup base or we're too used to having tonkotsu type ramen, but it was a very thin light soup that didn't have much flavor. My partner also got pot stickers but I forgot to ask him how those tasted - probably good but not amazing since he didn't say anything about it during dinner. The staff were super nice, the place was quite busy but we were able to get a table right away as a walk-in (it was a Tuesday night). I'd definitely come back next time we're in Portland, but probably not for the ramen.
Super star taste ! Thank you. Good service too. I’ll be back.

Surprised this is so highly rated. Ramen noodles were solid (quite good) and shoyu broth was okay.
The chashu was problematic. It was dry and chewy like a lean, overcooked piece of pork loin. Chashu should be pork belly or even shoulder. Something more rich and fatty. It did fall apart but was still weirdly dry and tough. Disappointing.

Very tasty ramen, service was fast considering how full it was. Really enjoyed the spicy umami ramen.

If you like ramen, you'll definitely like it here. On weekends, you'll have to wait a little in line to get in, because the place is quite small.

If you are gluten free, and a carnivore, this space is not for you. All of the animal protein options are prepared with soy sauce (gluten) including their eggs. There is one broth (vegetable) that is gluten free as well as gluten free noodles. There is one appetizer (edamame) that is gluten free. I am rating this experience so low because I spoke with four different wait staff that gave me four different answers on what contained gluten. When I spoke to the last server, they explained that no meat was prepared without soy sauce and that this could t be changed. The rest of my party had already ordered at this point- it was a very disappointing experience.
The atmosphere is cheerful, and the other people in my party, who eat gluten, had very positive feedback on their food.
I would not have made the drive and waited in line for vegetarian ramen (the sole gluten free option). Not the experience that I was hoping for. I even called ahead to confirm that there was gluten free ramen, and I was told that there was.

They made me wait because I was by myself even tho there was 2 open tables.
I don't pretend to be a ramen connoisseur, but I thought this was extremely tasty and well-portioned for the price. A 12 oz Sapporo was 4 bucks and my meal was another 14.5. I don't think you'll be sorry about choosing this one.

Ordered the miso ramen with pork. Pork was soooo dry it was almost inedible. Came with a friend and their food came out 10 minutes before mine. We basically had separate meals sitting at the same table. Would not recommend. Service was poor. Food was mediocre at best.
