Waiting over an hour with not even a plate of bread..Thank you for a not so amazing Valentines dinner that was never delivered.
Exceptionally mediocre fare poorly executed. Very disappointing. Our group of 16 arrived on time then waited. There menu was predetermined yet we still waited. And waited. Finally a small pizza came out. We waited. Then another small pizza. Wait. A third pizza. Waited. Salad arrived. Wine was slow. The pasta started to arrive and the bolognese was okay. Then the gnocchi came. Horrible. It was in paste not sauce; sticky and gross and lukewarm. I could have pulled a finer dessert out of my grocers freezer case than the one that was served. I would not return here unless they went back to a full menu and multiple servers.
My friends took me here for my birthday as one Renata's private events and I still feel bad about this. What a massive ripoff. For $120 a person you get about 2oz of salad, 2oz of pasta, and a dessert. The pasta is alright, it's nothing special. We had to beg staff for more, which they brought out some ribs, but why did we have to beg? Drinks cost extra, lucky it's BYOB.For the same cost you can go to so many other places and get actual variety and noticeable quality. It's absurd to think this place charges $120 a person to sit in a private room for 6oz of food... 3 courses... I think this place is more expensive then Tercet, Quintrelle, and La Pigeon...To break down the courses you are paying for:$30 for 2oz of Salad.$30 for 2oz of Pasta$30 for Tiramisu+ Private room + BYOB (lol)I never write negative reviews but it has been endlessly bothering me. Usually I just move past it and give 5 stars when it's good, but wow... Nothing about this place is worth the cost. If you are reading this and thinking about booking this place then let me present some alternatives that would excite your taste buds and present some variety.Mucca OsteriaSerratoPazzo RistoranteAndinaI think you could turn all those places into multiple course meals + multiple cocktails for the same cost.
The resturant was actually closed when I went. It was hired out for a workshop. We had a set menu served family style and a selection of house wines to accompany the dinner.I believe that one of the attendees got cocktail ? before the event so that is available.
Vegetarian options: They were told that there were a few vegetarians in group so they served 2 dishes to accommodate them.... but the dishes were served to everybody
As visitors from the UK we really enjoyed this fun smart Italian pizza restaurant
The only thing I regret is that we will likely never get a chance to have this meal again!Holy Trinity and Renata killed it! Every. Single. Dish. Done to perfection.
Had a lovely dinner last night w/ my husband! Thank you, Team Renata!I recommend the Bee Keeper cocktail if you like gin, lemon, and herbs. We also had the kale caesar to start, the Strozzapreti pasta, and the Quattro Formaggi pizza. It was all very delicious! Ended up taking half the pizza home as it was plenty of food. Our waiter Daniel was great - came to check on us often and we had fun chatting with him as well.
Absolutely stunning restaurant down to every detail with incredible food and service. You will not be disappointed with your experience.
Their white/green (bianco, verde) pizza, from New Seasons grocery store, is absolutely perfect.
The best Italian food in Portland. The pasta is made fresh in house and they really know how to mix flavors. They also made a vegan pasta for my spouse. The wait staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. One of my all time faves in PDX.

Food was decent. Not the best Italian that we've had in Portland but food alone would be worth going back for. However, service was well below average for such an establishment. They seemed to be understaffed. I get with social distancing and so on that personnel are limited, however, they should not continue taking people if they can't handle it. Upon being seated we asked whether we could be seated outside because the seats that we were given inside were right next to the pizza oven and with no A/C on it was boiling. We were told that all the tables outside were "reserved". Few minutes passed by and a couple came in and they were shown the table outdoors but they opted to take a table outside. On seeing that I asked again if we could take that table and we were told again that it was taken even though a minute earlier the couple of opted against it. It was either down to the fact that we had 2 kids with us that they didn't want us out there or I hate to think the other reason.Anyhow the food came and the appetizers were great. But the mains on the other hand were very burnt. I normally am a "pizza crust" person however this was one of the first time in recent memory that I didn't have any of the crust. The service to getb water was super slow. Had to ask three times before I got a refill.Lastly, which clearly annoyed us was that even though we were seated at around 6:40 they made it clear to us that they closed at 8 but they were still giving tables to people at 7:45.All in all, an average experience. Portland has so many better restaurants!
Italian food and the scene at this place is great. Quick and friendly service. It has a cool atmosphere.
Post Covid reviewWent to Renata with a party of six and sat outside. Good seating with distance apart.Food is excellent had the pizza but others had steak and fish and pasta and everyone was happy.
Awesome food, and one of the best covid take-out date night experiences we've had. Excited for patio season...
Lovely Italian place that serves fantastic pizza, pastas and more. They’re open during the pandemic with instructions on how to reheat whatever you order perfectly! We were supposed to have our rehearsal dinner here, but sadly that’s been postponed. As a result we’ve ordered from Renata twice this week, and their food always makes everything better!
