Genuinely sad I have to write this because I have the utmost respect for people working in food service. But the fact is, this is priced like fine dining and it's not fine dining. It's not even elevated pub food quality.

Great staff, terrible food and insane prices. Went on January 8th if that matters. Contact me directly if you want to know more.

I enjoyed lilia comedor and had high hopes for this tasting menu, but was disappointed that we spent over 300 and only liked maybe 2 out of the 8 dishes that were served, there were a lot of bitter notes throughout the meal, even in the dessert tart which tasted bitter and tart but not sweet. for a mexican tasting menu i was disappointed by the lack of spice or peppers in the meal. I was also surprised by the lack of pork or beef, as the sturgeon and cornish game hen did not seem like traditional mexican proteins.

Menu was just bad: bland dishes, chalky corn pancake, a sweet potato fritter thing that was pure oil, a dessert that was just a suggestion of something sweet - perhaps they were angry about working NYE and deliberately underperformed? There was ONE dish that was very good; everything else was mediocre at best. Wine pairings repeatedly arrived after food, and glasses were reused- blended wine pairing?? I did not have high expectations going in, and was still disappointed. After the first 4 dishes, we were just waiting for it to be over. This is also the first time I've left a tasting menu hungry.

This is not fine dining, or even good dining. Whatever this restaurant may have been in the past, it is absolutely not worth your money or time today.

Getting a reservation on NYE (and literally any other day) was easy suggesting the market is not happy. Wouldn't bet on them being around for 2026 without dramatic improvements.

Did the ten course option. If you go in with tempered expectations, I can see one having a decent enough time here. Maybe grab a bite beforehand tho.

Had been planning for a while to come to Republica and finally saved it for a special evening this last month. While overall the meal was enjoyable and a nice experience, I think for the value there are other restaurants in the Portland area that would be preferred.

Food: Was tasty, we went with the 7-course meal and got an 8th as a chef special which was nice. I’d say I enjoyed probably 5/8 of them with a few being quite tasty. Portion size however could have been better and by the end of the meal I wish I would have been just a bit more full to justify the cost. Drinks were ok but nothing special.

Service: Great service all around, we received new plates and silverware and were well taken care of. Can’t complain here.

Atmosphere: Definitely a nice venue and I appreciated the open kitchen. Things felt cozy overall and I appreciated the seating.

End of the day: It’s a fun meal and something new to try which was great. Just for the cost I wish I had walked away with a bit more food and been a bit more wowed by some of the complexity of dishes.

Had a great experience here. The service was top notch. We did the ten course meal and every story about what we were eating was really lovely. The food was very good and unique except for a couple dishes that felt a little short of good. The only real issue I had with this place is that the tables (at least the two we sat at; we moved from one initially) are very cheap and so light weight that they move and wobble VERY easily. For a restaurant charging so much for food they need to get better tables. It will help the place to feel a little more like fine dining. Otherwise I recommend this place.

What an experience! Every single course was divine and we really appreciated the history and context that came along with them - the staff are excellent storytellers. The atmosphere was lively but relaxed, perfect for a Sunday evening. We particularly loved the chicharron, the albacore, and the potato and cacao desert. The wine list was interesting and we tried a few which we loved - also appreciated the guidance from Andrés. We finished with a couple of cocktails which did not disappoint. Honestly the evening was top from beginning to end - what really made it was the attention from the team - from the kitchen to the table. Thank you!!!

A very special, delicious experience! Every single staff person we encountered was engaging and knowledgeable -- and we so enjoyed the stories behind the well-prepared food! We definitely recommend taking time to enjoy this type of dining!

The chef offers a thoughtful tasting menu with a story. Every dish has history and is skillfully prepared. The chefs work gracefully and their coursing time is impeccable. The service is also beyond perfect. It's refined yet friendly. I highly recommend Republica to anyone interested in the rich history of Mexican cuisine before it was Mexico.

Best restaurant ever. Republica is my absolute favorite restaurant, so I decided to have a memorable dinner here for my son's 20th birthday. I can't put into words how perfect everything was - the plates, drinks, atmosphere, presentation - everything was flawless. I was also impressed that they have evolved even further since we last visited 6months ago. Tonight was an unforgettable night for us and we truly would appreciate it.

My husband and I enjoyed this unique dining experience. Each course in our seven-course tasting menu was an inventive delight. The service was excellent—welcoming and professional. The staff told us the story behind each dish, including elements of Mexican history and culture. Otherwise, we were left to enjoy the special meal and debate our favorite dishes. It was a truly delicious and entertaining meal.

Used to be our favorite restaurant in portland. Hadn’t gone since they moved - got rid of the agave tasting which used to be great. DRASTICALLY raised their prices ($500 dinner for two and left hungry and quite sober). Smaller portions than in the past. But mostly, the food seemed tired and uninspired. New atmosphere is nothing compared to old spot. Sad. But I guess that’s why it’s easy to get a table now! Won’t be going back.

First time here, Anniversary dinner. We selected the 7 course option. Every course was beautiful and all of the tastes were so unique. The staff was great and experience was amazing. Every course portion size was just right, delicious and you would eat more but they save you from yourself.

My recent dining experience at this restaurant had its moments but ultimately fell short of expectations. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted and promptly seated. However, unlike other high-end establishments, there was no initial explanation of the courses we would be served during the 10-course meal. After ordering drinks, we waited 25 minutes before the first small course was served, which left us quite hungry and disappointed. The subsequent courses were also delayed, leading to further frustration.

The staff did notice our discomfort and graciously offered complimentary drinks, as well as waiving the charge for the drinks we had already ordered, which was appreciated. However, the service remained inconsistent throughout the evening, and the entire meal spanned three hours, which felt excessively long.

The food itself was generally well-prepared, with some dishes being truly exceptional. However, there were a few significant missteps, such as one dish that was overly salty and a dry piece of fish, which was particularly disappointing. These issues overshadowed the overall quality of the meal.

At the end of the evening, we were presented with a letter from the chef along with the check, listing the menu for the night. Interestingly, it seemed that some of the ingredients mentioned were not actually served to us, suggesting possible improvisation during the meal.

Finally, I was surprised to find that gratuity was added automatically to the bill. While I typically have no issue with paying gratuity, I believe it is more courteous to inform customers of this policy upfront rather than imposing it without prior notice.

In summary, while there were aspects of the experience that were enjoyable, the inconsistencies in service and food quality, along with the unexpected gratuity charge, detracted from what should have been a seamless dining experience. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback into consideration to enhance their service and ensure a higher standard of consistency.
