Journey back to those high school discoveries of coffee and long ranging conversations. Stay for the amazing pastries.
I love how late this place opens. We had to wait outside for quite long but the wait was worth it. We ordered the chocolate mocha cake and it was amazing. The cinnamon hot chocolate was way too sweet, but everything else was amazing.
Most of all the best part about the place was ambience.

This is my favorite place in Portland. Period. Ginger cake and coconut cake (special) is to die for. With a nice pot of tea. The server is also ALWAYS super nice and I love her style ✨

This is a hard review, but I’m going to post it to make sure what happened to me doesn’t happen to others, hopefully. I was very excited to come here as it seemed like a very unique experience. I’m all into niche Portland activities, especially late-night ones. Our waitress was extremely unfriendly, and I honestly couldn’t tell you what her voice sounded like because she didn’t respond to anything we said and proceeded to ignore me for almost 20 minutes when I tried to pay. I had my card on the edge of the table while multiple other people who came in after me paid before me, and somehow I continued to feel unnoticed. Also, as a bigger dude, I got stuck at a table against the wall and basically had the table crushing into my stomach the whole time. To top it off said table was very very wobbly and a light press of the pinky could wobble the whole table. I also got put into the smaller of the two rooms, which is poorly decorated and not nearly as interesting. I did not get the haunted vibe at all. The place is basically goodwill central which I like but that small room has very little art or anything besides a photo and ornaments hanging from the ceiling. The bathroom was really fun. You should definitely go in there if you visit. I just hope that maybe this server was having an off day because the service was absolutely mediocre. The food was really good. It was also very, very loud inside, and maybe if I had a more receptive server and a better seat, I wouldn’t have been so overstimulated by the environment.
I do recommend trying this place, but I hope you don’t draw the short stick as I did. I will try this place again eventually and update my review. You would think with the amount of hype, reviews, and parties waiting to get inside that this would be an unforgettable experience. We were left feeling like we should have spent the birthday occasion elsewhere.

Wonderful after dinner spot. Some of the best coffee in a great coffee town. I honestly think this is one of the best spots to end a night out in Portland.
Make sure to check out the bathroom!

I have no idea if the food is good. It was extremely dark outside, hard to find, and accident waiting to happen. Rickety steps up. Extremely disorganized sign in sheet. Absent employees. We waited 30+ minutes and left. It does look funky and interesting inside and if there was better organization, we probably would have waited longer.

Super unique. Totally a great experience. It is definitely a spot people go a grab a dessert/drink. Not somewhere to sit down and stuck around for a long time to read bc people are always waiting for a table. I was alone and just reading.

this place is quite the hoot! we've been a few times and theyre always foolin around. we've waited hours to order, been overcharged, and when we requested change they told us they thought it was the tip! such fun! they always know how to make an old goose laugh... come at your own risk and watch the circus in action. catch you next time my fellow wampas.
Most of the servers were incredibly unfriendly and barely acknowledged us. We felt uncomfortable and unwelcome, which made it hard to enjoy the delicious food and drinks. It was like they couldn't even muster up even a miniscule level of enthusiasm, friendliness, or politeness.

very cool atmosphere, the desserts are amazing. the table we got was the slow spin so when you werent looking your drink or dessert would be on the run which was always entertaining would love to come back here in the fall. Had the raspberry fool and the seasonal item, triple chocolate cake with english breakfast tea.

This is a cool spot! We didn't stay for very long, but I liked the dim lighting and fun decor. The food was good! Nice spot for a first date, or adventure with friends :)

Was excited to try this spot, no issue with the wait. It took us about 30 minutes to get a table for 3 on a Saturday at 8pm.
Not 30 minutes after getting our order a waitress, not our waitress, approached the table and very bluntly told us they have a waitlist and would need the table. We still had food and drinks in front of us. Every other table surrounding us was there when we sat down and we didn't see them approach any other table to ask them to leave.
Just reading other reviews, it seems like this happens regularly. I'm not sure what's going on there but you can go to 100 other places in Portland and be treated kindly, I'd pass on Rimsky.

Seated at a table 15 minutes...before even being greeted (in 2013). Hasn't changed a bit. Weird.
