I’m extremely disappointed by the experience my friend and I had at this bar. The way staff treated my friend felt openly racist and completely unacceptable. No one should feel singled out or disrespected because of who they are, and it was shocking to see that kind of behavior happening so casually.

A bar should be a welcoming place for everyone, and this one failed badly. Because of what we experienced, I will not be returning and I do not support this establishment. I hope the owners seriously reflect on this and make real changes so others don’t have to go through the same thing.

Always got to love a small old school bar and restaurant.

A institution that always delivers. Michael is a world class bartender, and all of the staff here are pros. As the kids say “they understand the assignment”.

Love the Sandy Hut, for all its faults. They got my order wrong the last 3 times. But I still come back.

Comfy bar with the standard food and drinks and a really cool pool table and a few pinball machines. Lots of nice comfy booths.

Sandy hut is such a Portland degenerate evening classic. Can be somewhat slow to get food or drinks when busy but that’s kinda just how the bar is setup.

Really 4 stars is because there is usually a variable cast of characters here so depending on the night it could be good, bad, or ugly. User discretion is advised.

Best dive bar in Portland. The cheeseburgers are great and they have this mushy frozen Pina colada type drink that is just rad. You have to try it at least once. You'll love it.

Stopped in unexpectedly after my car broke down last night, and I’m so glad I did. The bartender was incredibly kind — let me charge my phone and made me a great drink. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and I even ended up making a few new friends. Even the security guard wanted to help out. Truly restored my faith in humanity. Highly recommend this place!

Great bar and staff but regulars will hog the pool table like they own it which sucks

Just a dive that themes itself as a tiki bar. Don't waste your time.
