Wonderful fried chicken, mashed potatoes with brown taso gravy and collard greens done just right.........mmmmmmmmmm Southern cooking at it's finest. Bar is really creative, too ... snap pea gimlet :) Menu has changed a bit since our previous visit. Catfish is on the menu only as a sandwich. Hush puppies are perfect as usual, but no more deviled eggs. Overall a great dining spot whenever you are in the mood for real Southern food. And the seating was prompt and our server (Amber) was efficient and delightful.

Always stop here when traveling through Portland. Best chicken and waffles! Didn't bother trying that dish anywhere else... It will never compare.

We went for happy hour and sat on the patio. We had the pimento cheese plate, the pulled pork sliders, and the garden toast. They were all so amazing!!! We will definitely be back for happy hour again.

A visit to Screen Door is always a must when we're in the area, whether for breakfast or dinner. We made an early reservation the day we were heading out, and as always, Screen Door didn't disappoint. Start with the cinnamon rolls. They're the perfect size! We each had our own, and they were perfectly fluffy and flavorful. I ordered the chicken and biscuits and went with the mushroom gravy option, as well as substituting in lemon vinegar coleslaw for the potatoes. Nice way to sneak in some vegetables before hitting the road. :) My husband got the Cajun scramble and opted for cheddar grits as his side (a must).

OMG- this was SUCH good food. The shrimp and grits were to absolutely die for - they were filling, savory, flavorful and perfect. The service, atmosphere, and every food item were on point...I will be back!

First time at this restaurant and everything was outstanding. The menu choices made me want a sampler platter because there are so many tempting choice. I ordered the hush puppies (so good, you'll slap your mama), the pulled pork sandwich (a classic), and the banoffee pie (not overly sweet, but hits). Huge portions (took leftovers with me) and my server was so kind. Definitely will be back during my visit!

Visiting from out of town and this place came highly recommended for the chicken and waffles and it did not disappoint at all. I loved the vibe and service was great!

My girlfriend and I went to Screen Door on Juneteenth this year and had a fantastic experience. We made reservations through OpenTable — even with a short wait, we were seated quickly and comfortably. We started with the cinnamon roll, which was absolutely incredible — rich, warm, and perfectly gooey. I ordered the chicken and biscuit, and she had the Cajun scramble. Both dishes were absolutely amazing. The flavors, the portions, the quality — everything was spot on. As we were eating, we both realized we don't come to Screen Door nearly enough. The food is phenomenal, the service is attentive and friendly, and the whole experience reminds you why this place is so special. It's priced like your typical brunch spot, but the food quality is easily 10x better than most places we go. Screen Door never misses. Highly recommend.

Screen Door Eastside is one of my family's favorite restaurants; there's always a good energy there, the menu is not huge but there is good variety on it, and the food we eat there is always excellent. On this particular visit, we were there for dinner. Our server was uncharacteristically quiet for a server here, but she was very good at what she did. I finally broke down and ordered chicken and waffles and was glad I did! Really good sweet potato waffle that stood up to the chicken. I will order it again. We enjoyed our visit very much.

Great food and mostly great service. The queue at the door could easily be clarified with verbal instructions from the host and/or signage for those with and without reservations. The confusion was an unnecessarily annoying start to an otherwise great experience.

The food is always good (though last night wasn't their absolute best). Service was a bit off, with long delays before ordering and another long wait for the check. I think they were caught by a sudden influx of customers since the dining room went from about 1/3rd full to packed in 20 mins. Still great.
