Is this the greatest sandwich shop in Portland? Almost definitely!Dan and Elise just recently moved their “hole in the wall” deli from the Monatvilla neighbourhood to Sellwood. The new location has plentiful seating in a cool Setting tucked in between other small business. Love the simple retro furnishing and wallpaper plus what has to be one of the best hand painted signs in Portland. I used to live in London and lived on Italian deli sandwiches and with Sebastiano’s they took that concept and made it better. Go for the sandwiches and stay for the wine and cookies

This muffuletta is really one of the best sandwiches in Portland, though it's a bit pricey. Worth it. 115%

Food here is BOMB! Everyone is super friendly and it feels like you're eating in a cafe in Sicily.

We walked over to Sebastiano's for the first time today. We were really excited about the new addition to our neighborhood, but unfortunately we were completely underwhelmed and won't be back. The Good:The space is really cute and well laid out. My wife said the bombolone was amazing. The Bad:The food was rather flavorless and overpriced. We ordered the Sebastiano muffalatta. It's $16 for basically a half a sandwich and some chips. The flavor was fine, nothing spectacular. The radicchio salad was a disappointment. We love the radicchio salad at Montelupo and hoped we could get one within walking distance. Unfortunately although the dressing was plentiful it didn't really have any flavor. The olives and lupini were a nice addition, but we didn't even bother to finish the salad. The tomato soup was fine. Again, nothing to write home about. We also weren't aware of the 20% service charge, so tipped on top. So, an expensive, disappointing visit that we won't repeat.

Had muffuletta sandwich both times I’ve been here. And it was so yum. Owners are super nice. I also really like their ginger molasses cookies.

I cannot stop going since they opened the new location in Sellwood. I've been 3 times out of the 5 days they've been open so far and planning to go again later this week. Everything is delicious and the staff is super friendly! Outstanding local

I live down the street and was excited to see that you're open now. I was however extremely disappointed that I paid $16 for half a sandwich, plus I left a 15% gratuity. I went home and ate more food since I was still hungry.

Came cause a friend hyped it up, was good but the Italian in me can give it a five.

Food is solid. But forcing your customer to 'tip' an automatic 20% so your staff can 'make a living wage' is lazy bookkeeping. It's not even a tip at that point. I propose you do away with tips, and raise the prices by 20% then actually pay your staff a living wage. If I want to tip for great service, I can do so. You're admitting you're not paying your staff enough, and you expect the customer to do it. The typical counter argument will be that you want to keep the prices down, on an already expensive menu. I would argue that it's not sustainable business practice if you can't have it affordable enough for people to want, and be able to pay your staff a living wage. Set the prices to what they need to be, so your staff can have a wage. Then I will decide if I want to pay those menu prices. Thumbs down from me.
