This place is great. The owner and chef Wael is super kind and accommodating. The café is in a great spot right across from the Mt Scott Community center.

The food is fantastic too. My kids plowed through the fries and toum. Their grandmother was all about the salads. The hummus was delightful, the pita fresh and soft. The falafel was some of the best I've had in years

The cardamom balanced the coffee well and the tea was super refreshing.

Excellent food, atmosphere, and service. It’s the best middle eastern food I’ve had in Portland. The falafel are crunchy on outside but moist and fluffy inside. Tawouk is one of the best chicken sandwiches in Portland. And the hummus is to die for, so creamy.

I love this place. Everything on the menu is delicious—you really can’t go wrong. The flavors are incredibly authentic and remind me so much of the food I grew up with. The chicken shawarma is the best in town. The delicious pickles and olives that come with the dishes make the meal even better. It’s so special to have a place in town that brings me back to the flavors of Syria that I miss so much.

The service is great, and the decor is beautiful and thoughtfully done. It’s also very family-friendly, which is a rare and much-appreciated find in this city.

If you’re looking for authentic Syrian food and a great dining experience, this place is a must. I’m so grateful we finally have something like this in town!

I might be a little biased because I know the chef, but honestly Shami Cafe is the real deal. 🇸🇾 The food tastes just like home—perfectly seasoned chicken, amazing falafel, and ful that reminds me of what we eat back in Syria. You can tell everything is made with care and real Syrian flavors. Easily some of the best Syrian food I’ve had outside of Syria.

Overheard some workers talk about how mice get into their rice and grains and also mentioned mice droppings all over their food. They still used said rice… we ran out of here so fast. No thank you.!

I have taken coworkers and my mom here and it’s away a hit. My mom said it was the best falafel shes ever had. Super yummy and welcoming service. Vegan options clearly labeled.

What a find. This is a across from the Mount Scott recreation center on 72nd and the food is so good and the people working there are very friendly. This might be my new favorite place.
