Super tastey food truck! I got the Pad Thai and Mango Sticky rice. They can make most dishes vegan or GF. Great little spot to hang out.

5 stars. Tonight I had the seasonal white peach curry (red). It was delicious. The counter man suggested it, so thanks to you, sir. It had big chunks of tofu ( my protein choice) and a mildly sweet essence. The vegetables had been lightly pre-cooked, so they were superb, just a perfect combo of sweet and savory. Curry was about $17. It was a large portion. I would eat here again.

On the evening of 5-20-24 I witnessed the owner of this cart refuse to serve a biracial couple. She said twice, loud enough to hear from the tables nearby, “Cinnamon and sugar, I don’t like that.” The couple, reasonably stunned and angered, left the food cart pod entirely. Obviously, in light of this, I would not recommend supporting this Thai cart.Additional response added here, in response to the business’s response: I witnessed an absolutely unacceptable event happen at Sila Thai. I do not know the couple that was turned away and refused service. I do not make any statements or conjectures of why this happened. I only am objectively reporting what I saw. As an aside, I have been going to this food cart regularly for years…since before it moved to the beer porch even. I previously did not have a problem with this cart or the people who run it. In fact, all of my personal interactions there were just fine. However, what I witnessed was absolutely unacceptable. The business responding with a veiled threat of “check myself before I wreck myself” and calling me a “white crusader” isn’t exactly a reasonable response. I saw what I saw, reported objectively what I saw, I didn’t make any conjectures, didn’t call anyone names. I spent hours deciding if and how to respond to what I saw. The bottom line: What I witnessed was absolutely unacceptable.

My first time eating here. I was looking for good Thai food, and it was suggested by Google. Good food, reasonable price and nice setup.

Really nice Lady so feel bad but here goes. I ordered the basil fried rice. It tastes like it never made it into a wok, wet and almost like a pilaf. Fried rice isn’t supposed to taste like this. The chicken had less than zero flavor and was rubbery. I had a bad experience at this cart a loooong time ago so I thought I would give it one more try. No third try, sorry.Awful atmosphere at the food carts as well.

I've been going to this cart for years back when it was in the food cart pod thats no longer there in the parking lot on SE Stark. It's probably some of the best Thai food I've ever had with very inventive curries (like avocado, peach, and pineapple curry, none of which are vegan). Post-veganism, they still have several flavorful dishes on offer: most of the stir fry/rice noodle dishes can be made vegan by request (with tofu, specify no eggs/fish sauce), the yellow curry with tofu, vegan thai iced tea, and most of all I'm addicted to the fried tofu appetizer. UPDATE: they are starting to offer vegan green curry and other vegan dishes Updated from previous review on 2023-01-05

I really should stop by this food court more often! Tucked away in one of the corners of the St. Johns Food Carts is Sila Thai. Moon, owner and operator, is always friendly. I enjoy chatting and catching up with her. The food is always excellent and as good as anything I've had in a brick and mortar restaurant in Portland. Three of my favorite dishes are the Sweet Basil Stir Fry, Spicy Fried Rice and Yellow Curry, but pretty much everything served here is full of flavor! I typically have ordered here when it's not super busy, and the dishes have always been ready in ten minutes or less.Definitely stop by and give this food cart a try if you're in the area!

I ordered the chicken satay from Sila Thai. What a treat! Moon offered me a variety of sauces, she was accommodating, and the food was ready in exactly 15-min. I’m writing this review with a full stomach and the taste of peanut butter sauce still in my mouth. Thanks for the delicious dinner, Moon!
