It’s all about the experience. So you want to make breakfast, but out of the house, and without the mess?! Well Slappy Cakes is your spot! Think teppanyaki, but for your morning meal. The actual food is pricey and average, but the spot, especially for bigger~ heavy kid groups is perfection. Make your own pancakes with endless add ons, right before your eyes. Parking is all street, so get there early to avoid the long waits and long walk.

Was so excited to take the Grandkids there. Saturday morning very busy, very tight. Husband is in a wheelchair. Glad he wasn’t there as he would have had a hard time getting through. 10.00 for 8 Oz of pancake batter seemed a little on the spendy side. Batter was very thick so little hands were having a hard time squeezing it out. Griddle was not turned up high enough so pancake were taking a very long time to cook. Pretty sure pancakes were still doughy in the center but kids were hungry and it was a long process so they ate them. We had a sliced strawberry, and a blueberry topping. Fresh fruit was good. Had an order of biscuits and gravy which were just ok and seemed a bit overpriced. Had the hashbrowns chorizo platter, which was excellent. Potatoes were crispy we all ate off of that. Employees were nice, service was timely. We are glad we tried it and shared the experience with the grandkids but most likely we will not go back.

I love this little spot! Kids love making pancakes in the griddle built into each table, tons of batters and toppings to make a mess, have fun, and eat their creations. The staff is diverse, friendly, and helpful, and there's plenty of bloody mary mix and poached egg dishes for the grown ups at the table. Excellent experience if you have the time. Quite busy on weekends at brunch times, be prepared to entertain yourselves for a half hour or so after getting your name on the list. On-street parking can be difficult anywhere in this neighborhood.

Heather is the best waitress/server. She took care of a big crowd of us for celebrating 2 birthdays on a busy Sunday morning. While we waited to be seated she took drink orders. Always available and cheerful for anything we needed. We loved her and love the restaurant!

DIY Pancakes! What more could you ask for?! I absolutely love this place! You can choose your flavor of pancake batter and you have plenty of options for fixings/toppings! There's also plenty of other food options as well if you're not a fan of pancakes. I highly recommend the avocado toast or the avocado pesto benedict. It can be a bit loud when crowded but honestly it didn't bother me.

We have visited Slappy Cakes twice now and both times we really enjoyed ourselves. The wait is always long on the weekends so plan for that or try to get there close to opening. Parking was a little difficult because there was construction during our last visit. All parking is on the street because they do not have their own parking lot. Food and coffee was good however I wish my server would have suggested that the pancake batter was enough for at least 2kids. Aside from that we had a great time making our own pancakes. Lots of fun, cool atmosphere and cute decor.Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly ?

This is a fun and inviting restaurant with a staff that knows it's clientele. First time visitor? No problem, you are one of the family.Make sure to ask for the "secret tricks" to pancake making to get all the fun stories on different methods everyone uses.
