Soen, a small Japanese café, is nestled within the cozy Courier Coffee. This unique establishment offers a delightful dining experience, with a menu that showcases authentic Japanese flavors. The Hojicha Kokuto Kinaco shaved ice, a signature dish, features a pleasant combination of hojicha flavor and sweet adzuki beans, providing a refreshing and satisfying treat.

The café's atmosphere is both intimate and charming, with a handful of tables inside and a few more outside on the sidewalk. The store is a bit small so there's not many places to sit or stand. The door was tricky to open out; you have to push the button down while pushing the door out. Only street parking is available. There is always a line during lunch time.

In addition to the popular shaved ice, the menu includes a selection of small snacks, such as Inari, and Norimaki and onigiri, which are amazing. Customers can also indulge in the trio of Dango, accompanied by a selection of coffee drinks. The kakigoris were amazing, the best in the US, with a strawberry puree that is really flavorful and not too sweet.
