I seek out Spella whevener I’m in town. This is as close to a European espresso shop as you can likely find in North America. Tiny, stand up sipping. None of this wood paneled 3rd wave coffee where the drinks and decor are the same from Bangkok to Bangor.

Stumbled into this small hole in the wall coffee shop the other day, while I was hunting for caffeine. Wow! The espresso was yummy!!! Went back the next day and tried the latte. It was equally amazing! ???The store is tiny but cozy. Definitely recommend!

Absolutely the best espresso I’ve had anywhere in the US. I attempt to avoid coffee drinks as much as possible- my partner is the coffee person, however, I would love to start everyday with a drink from here. The workers are also always so pleasant and easy to chat with. A true gem here in Portland.

In a city awash with excellent specialty coffee, Spella manages to be unique and memorable. In fact, relatives who live abroad make a pilgrimage to Spella whenever they are in town. On our last visit, Mr. Spella himself was working behind the bar and made us all perfectly hand pulled drinks. I usually just have a cappuccino which consists of a double shot of their home-roasted espresso topped with silky smooth steamed milk. I've never been to Italy, but the wonderful flavor and quality of the drinks that come from this humble space transport me there. If you're not downtown often, I promise this is worth the detour. Truly a Portland gem.

Gosh, the premier of all coffees in my opinion. The roasts of these beans are outstanding! The location is the smallest gem amongst the big buildings in the city and the service is outstanding. Do yourself a favor and immerse yourself in their tiny world to blow your mind and expand your palate.

This coffee shop was a highlight for my mornings in Portland while visiting. The coffee is absolutely delicious (one of my all time favorite lattes). The staff is friendly and efficient as they have a constant stream of people ordering (totally understandable). I loved the coffee so much, I bought a bag to bring home with me and I got to enjoy delicious coffee a bit longer. I can't recommend this coffee spot enough! Just note the shop is very small and there is limited seating outdoors on the sidewalk.

A warm, neighborhood feel made me feel like I was in Europe again. Perfect temperature cortado without overheating. Roasted beans were delicious when we brewed Chemex at home later in the week. Thanks for the quality work and caring about making great coffee.

Absolutely delicious latte - one of the best I've had in a ling while. This is a little gem that you could easily miss walking by. The barista was wonderful- amiable, knowledgeable and hand-pulled two perfect lattes for the same price as we'd pay at the mermaid (but with much less bitterness) They could probably use a few more baked goods but that's not their specialty. Sorry no pictures of the lattes - they were consumed immediately

Great tasting coffee. I also recommend the staff for being kind and empathetic to some of the homeless population. They have out free coffee which was truly heart warming.

You guys do an amazing job with the coffee. Truly crafted in the fine Italian tradition. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable. The shop is cool.

Great little shop downtown with no nonsense quality espresso in the Italian style. Highly recommend!

Small but great coffee place. They have a small selection of pastries (nothing vegan though). Coffee tasted good.
