The best sandwich I’ve ever tasted in my entire life. And the fries were out of this world. Staff were all suuuuper friendly and you could tell they all genuinely loved being there. Will definitely be back soon!

Stacked is one of the best sandwich shops I have been to in Portland, if not THE BEST. The different selections give you that craving you may be having and the quality of each sandwich will leave you delighted that you came. The service is always in a timely matter and best of all is that they include an automatic tip (aka just paying employees what they should be paid).

BEST. SANDWICH. EVER. ANYWHERE. It's the Oxtail French Dip at Stacked Sandwich Shop, 2175 NW Raleigh.I can't say too much about this creation, but that won't stop me from trying. It rises above the sandwich genre into the realm of fine art. It's the quintessence of beef on a hoagie bun, stuffed with charred onions, cremini mushrooms, garlic/horseradish toum, havarti cheese, garlic butter, herbs, and a dipping cup of luscious jus. It's a veritable Venus de Milo, but with messy hands. The Oxtail French Dip is big enough to share, but half is not enough. It's an epiphany, an explosion of flavor. Exquisite. Divine. Sublime. Resplendant. Comically hyperbolic. And I'm not even a sandwich guy!

Met a friend for lunch, sat outside, and lingered over a tasty bowl and kombucha. What a great Sunday afternoon! It wasn't busy at noon but got fuller as we sat there. Street parking only but free on Sunday. Great veggie and vegan options. The bowls were loaded with a variety of tasty veggies. The sauce was light so getting premixed worked for me. My friend got it on the side. It made it easy and enjoyable to eat healthy. I will definitely be back! They are adding beer and cider taps.

Vegetarian options: All the bowls and 2 sandwiches.

Parking: Sunday parking is free. Street parking could be difficult at times and require a walk but it always works out for me.

Dietary restrictions: Lots of vegetarian and vegan options. All the bowls and 2 sandwiches! You can also build your own bowl for specific dietary needs.

I missed the signs walking in…Auto gratuity tax for take out and a “wellness and health” tax on a 15 dollar order, then they ask you for an additional tip lol also I’m doing the checking out, so I’m tipping the cooks not the non existent servers…aren’t they paid a better wage than servers, who’s vacation am I funding?! Foods great but I won’t support it. I seen in the other comments the auto extra pay shifted the experience, no one likes it, I would have been fine with the auto gratuity but that extra charge just don’t feel right. Food is absolutely delicious, but I won’t be back for that specific reason. I know, ugh!

I got the BLT - and lemme tell you, it was out of this world. It was so juicy and messy and just perfect. Also the tomatoes in this BLT were so fresh and pure joy.Def my fave BLT in Portland so far!

I stood in line for a while, during which time I could not at any time find a price for any of their items. not on the window. not in the shop. not online. I did however find that they were going to add a service charge (even for takeout) and an additional made up fee for... whatever. With the wait and the mystery pricing, this place is too chic for a regular guy like me. Wish them well though.

I had the oxtail sandwich. Truly a fine dining experience within a sandwich. Incredible. Also, I love that the tips are factored into the price. I wish u saw more businesses adopt this because it makes so much more sense!

Excited to have Stacked back open again. Always enjoyed their creative sandwiches in the past, so I was thrilled to see many old favorites and a few new sandwiches on the menu. After multiple visits to the new location and trying numerous sandwiches, this is clearly the best sandwich shop in town. Special nod to the Coppa, Curry Fried Chicken, Turkey Ruben, and Ox tail sandos.

I stopped in yesterday to see whether I’d like to try this new sandwich shop in the neighborhood. The first thing I was greeted with was a large sign on the counter explaining that they automatically add a 16% gratuity to every check. So, we have yet another restaurant deciding to pass the cost of properly compensating their staff onto their customers through a forced gratuity.A gratuity is meant to be a voluntary expression of a customer’s appreciation for the service they receivED. Not an involuntary, automatic service charge assessed up front. That’s just bad business management, and they’ve lost my business permanently as a result.Compensate your staff appropriately, Stack, instead of forcing that responsibility on your customers.UPDATE: after reading the owner’s response, I am compelled to respond:You missed the point entirely, so I will reiterate it: Compensate your staff appropriately instead of forcing that responsibility onto your customers through a mandatory gratuity charged up front, before any service has been rendered. That’s just bad business practice…period. And consider behaving like a professional instead of an offended child when you post a public response.Have a nice day.

Had the ox tail sandwich and it was beyond a delicious sandwich. It’s a bit small and the prices are cool but the flavors were delicious. The one thing I didn’t like is the weird taxes and additions for tips added to the cost of the sandwich is a bit off. I own restaurants and I’ve never seen this. Especially when the staff doesn’t say much when you walk in. Didn’t even explain I needed to use the computer. Y’all need to work on the love and energy in your place. FOOD IS VERY GOOD! now fix your environment.

I’ll start with the negative and ultimately why I won’t eat here again. A Turkey Reuben with side of fries is $23. That’s NYC prices. Unacceptable really. The sandwich is on the small side, especially for the price. So they are definitely hitting food cost margins so I don’t buy the phony altruism the owner states is the purpose of their business model. They auto add gratuity, a wellness tax and an order processing fee on every order. Plus they even ask for additional tip! Dining in is apparently even higher tax rates. The food was good, no complaints there. Not worth the price however.

Tofu green curry sandwich was good. Not a fan of the mandatory tip (plus the tablet asks for an additional tip after purchasing). Especially because I didn’t interact with a single employee. It’s ordering yourself at a kiosk with no waitstaff… I appreciate the attempt at transparency but even if the cost was built in, sandwiches would be upwards of $15. Not worth it.

Food is good but this compulsive tipping is pushing tipping culture towards the wrong direction.I tip quite well but it should be on the costumer and service provided. I shouldn’t have to tip for take out. This is the first time I’ve seen compulsive tipping and even tho the food was good, I will not be going here again.

Grabbed a smoked turkey hero to sustain me during my study grind for finals, and was not disappointed! Mama lils peppers are one of my favorite toppings ever and it really made the sandwich for me!I don't have a massive appetite but I do wish the sandwich was slightly bigger. I'm a student so I rarely eat out, when I do I want to get the bang for my buck. The tip/tax/autograt thing was clearly stated up front. Prices reflected I thought were fair with how costly ingredients are now.I was also craving a pickle so hard! Would love to see them make some in-house pickles as a side.My only gripe was I felt a little awkward walking in for the first time. The staff seemed a little stressed out and I was hoping for more of a warm and inviting experience. The screens up front disconnected me from the people, although I appreciate the streamlined system they've got going.I also work in the service industry in NW, so I know how hard it can be to keep up the energy, but even a little "hey what's up!" and a smile goes a long way for me. Making people feel seen and exited to come in. I'll be back for more sandwiches!Hopefully we can chat for a sec next time :)
