Comfort food, beer, wine drinks. Warmer, local community atmosphere. Lovely, personable staff. Vaguely addictive hangout.

Tabor Tavern
Wow can I just start by saying what an amazing place with amazing food and atmosphere. I had been wanting to visit this place for a while now after seeing how stellar their menu items were and all the great reviews they have. Me and my partner went in excited to see what the experience was going to be like. Walking in, it was a dimly lit very whimsical place with every table full so that itself felt promising that this place was a neighborhood staple. We decided to sit at two empty seats in the middle of their bar, only because we didn’t feel like waiting for a table, we had not eaten all day. We get greeted by our bartender (med/long hair with a beanie). After telling us the specials they had, I asked about their red ale (because I had seen it on the website) and he seemed annoyed that i asked at all and referred to their chalkboard written wall 2 times (which I could barely read/see, maybe a paper menu or legible handwriting would be better?)
I brushed off any attitude I felt from this man simply because I know it can be a stressful job and I don’t know what he was going through, so I did my best to not be difficult or needy. He told us about the $6 Moscow mule special which my partner got and I got the taborita which he seemed annoyed about. I’m not sure if we didn’t follow proper etiquette for this man, and ordering food at the bar was just unethical and frowned upon, but we felt unwelcome and ridiculed by this bartender. We overheard his “these two right here” to a kitchen staff member (not even trying to be discrete about it), followed with great intolerance and avoidance.
We ordered the steak bites, baked Brie, and pretzel with cheese, which all of them including the drinks were amazing! Literally surpassed my expectations and we were really pleased and happy with the execution of the menu! Even the kitchen staff member (mustache and glasses) was a kind and catering individual that had a great attitude (definitely helped elevate the experience).
After finishing our apps, I order the tabor dip to go (still wanted to try menu items but felt like i needed to leave) and again my bartender seemed annoyed with me. He comes back a few minutes later to tell me the kitchen is out of the tabor dip, so I sub it out for a lamb burger and fries.
This whole time sitting at the bar I had kept to myself with the experience we were having, but didn’t realize I was sitting next to one of the coworkers. The bartender loudly starts a conversation with that coworker that might as well have been to me, talking about how the tabor dip is the worsts thing on the menu, and they don’t know why they have it or why it sells out. This in itself solidified all the passive aggression and negativity I felt from this individual. I’m not sure why you would ever have to state so loudly how “horrible” the menu item is, but it’s a lack of respect on so many levels for the chef and the customer. At this time I couldn’t think of one thing we did or said that could have granted this horrible service and attitude. Everything else was amazing and surpassed all of our expectations.
If we come back we will not be sitting at the bar or ordering drinks for that matter. Gonna give it a while before we come back to this great place; maybe once they can get rid of some bad apples and malignant attitudes.

Tonight I walked into Tabor Tavern thinking I was grabbing a sandwich at a greasy spoon. Boy was I wrong. As soon as I walked in, there was a warm cozy vibe with good lighting. We were sat at a booth and greeted by the server who was kind and attentive. We started with cocktails which punched way above their $13 price tag. Balanced, yet still bold and flavorful. We decided to grab a few of their smaller shareables and I really wanted a chicken sandwich.

The baked Brie was outstanding. The bacon jelly with apple was so perfectly complimented by the provided bread. 10/10 Brie dish, and I have had many. The steak bites had a delicious marinade, and the horseradish cream sauce complimented it perfectly 9/10. Their fries were also elevated, and came with a fry sauce that tasted like it had yogurt in it, which we were both big fans of. 9/10

A lot of bars phone in their chicken sandwiches. I am here to tell you this was the best chicken sandwich I’ve had in a long while. The brioche bun must have been extremely fresh. It was so airy and light….we were squeezing the sandwich over and over cause we couldn’t believe how good it was. The chicken was juicy and deliciously seasoned. Their sharp white cheddar cheese and tomato jam were the icing on top. 11/10 for a chicken sandwich.

We also had the brownie for desert with ice cream and the pomegranate syrup was perfect.

The bartender and server were friendly, the food was delicious, the cocktails hit, the atmosphere was calm and refined. Overall this was a great dining experience. We will definitely be visiting again. Thanks guys!

Cozy vibe. But the food honestly sucks and the drinks are not pleasant. If they were cheap that’d be one thing. But the food is expensive enough that it should at least taste decent. But it all literally sucks. The steak is somehow bland but ok salty. The mash potatoes and carrots are too gross to eat and they are the easiest vegetables to cook. The chicken tenders and fries are so salty it hard to finish. The drinks are so bitter and sour. It’s like they don’t even know how to make the malt basic drinks. The server doesn’t even really check in you you have to flag them down everytime. The bartenders aren’t that pleasant either. Not rude per se but not that pleasant. Overall it is cute to look at but the few times I’ve come here I’ve been unimpressed by food drink and service. Only good thing so far is the Mac and cheese. That is a decent dish.

I took my son to Dinner for his 38th birthday. I didn't know what to expect because I have not went many places in the area. We were very pleased. Staff and customers were great and I enjoyed my food. My son inhaled his steak bites.

UPDATE: 12/15/2025: Returned today after not liking the place five years ago. This time I’m happy to say it’s a fine little tav, and the nice place in my neighborhood I had hoped for, with great service, and their Classic Burger is super, and very generously sized. I highly recommend.

I had a hamburger and a beer. The beer selection is excellent. The burger was made with quality ingredients. The meat and the bun were noticeably fresh.

I just moved into the area. Thought I’d walk over and see if this lovely looking spot could be my new regular everyday lunch spot.
Had a great experience with the food and atmosphere.

But dear god…:
I’ve never felt more unwelcome by a server in my life. Almost no eye contact. Short dismissive communication. angry body language.

I got a sandwich and a cup of coffee.
At lunch time 11/24.
She clenched her jaw as she was taking my order.
Which I would get if I was being flirty/overly dramatic or too conversational and she had other tables to take care of.

But I wasn’t feeling well and didn’t say all that much besides my order and please/thank you/ I appreciate you.
I gave her cash to pay my bill. Dropped the change without eye contact or even a good bye.

This isn’t a case of me having “early 30s white guy syndrome” where Im taking her not bowing down to me as a sign of disrespect.

This was another human treating another human like they didn’t belong in the establishment.

The other server on shift had redish bangs.
My server was taller and had brown curly ish hair.

It was serious enough I almost walked up to the bar and asked her if I did something that offended her.

I won’t recommend or go again. Holly smokes

Horrible. Awful server. He hated us. The French dip was cold. The fries were the only good thing about the experience. The bacon jam was in one clump. The most unimpressive place I have eaten all year. I was embarrassed for your restaurant.
