"We tried their ramen: Tori Shio and Shoyu. They are traditional Japanese 'Chuka Soba,' and while they look beautiful, the taste is just okay. It's difficult to find authentic, old-style chicken broth and thick wavy noodles in the U.S., so overall, their ramen is good!"

We recently treated ourselves to a night out Takibi and unfortunately we did not have the dining experience we hoped for.
We ordered the omakase (chef’s choice) meal with sake pairings. The first thing that surprised us was that they informed us that the omakase could not cater to any dietary restrictions including allergies. However, without the meal written out, we wouldn’t know if that would be an issue. The waitress was eventually able to confirm that the omakase was nut and peanut free, and we placed our order.
The pacing of the meal was very off. We often were getting the sake pairings 5-10 minutes before the dish itself. And the courses were brought out very inconsistently. Between two courses we waited probably 30-40 minutes. The servers informed us that the night we went, they were very understaffed. We absolutely commiserated but it did feel like we were often an afterthought; we would’ve appreciated a comp after they acknowledged that service was not up to par.
Unfortunately, the food also did not live up to the price tag. It was all fine with a couple of courses feeling underwhelming.
Overall, the place is pretty and the drinks were good. But at the price point of more than $100 per person, you expect the experience to be more than meh. At this time, I would recommend finding other places to “treat yourself”.

We visited on the evening of November 29 and ordered sashimi, sushi rolls, beef, oysters, and shrimp tempura. The shrimp tempura was well-prepared and perfectly fried, and the beef was flavorful. However, the oyster did not taste fresh; since I only ordered one, I didn't raise any concerns. Unfortunately, I experienced discomfort later that evening and had to visit the restroom multiple times.
Service:
Our server, William, provided basic service such as taking and delivering orders, but there was no additional interaction or effort. We even had to refill our own water.
⚠️Major Issue:
I noticed that my credit card was charged more than the amount on my receipt. Fortunately, I had kept proof and resolved the issue through my credit card company, but this was an unexpected and disappointing experience.
I visited on the evening of November 29th and ordered sashimi, sushi rolls, beef, oysters, and fried shrimp tempura.
Meals:
The fried shrimp tempura was good, fried just right; the beef tasted delicious too; the oysters didn't taste too fresh, but I only had one and there was no special reaction. I felt sick that night and ran to the toilet many times🚾
Service: It was William's service that day. Apart from ordering and serving dishes, there was no other communication or service. We even poured the water ourselves.
⚠️Point: My credit card transaction record shows that the total transaction amount is higher than the amount written on my receipt, because I have retained evidence and reported it to the credit card company and it has been resolved, but I am still surprised and disappointed by this incident.

Good, but very overpriced
I love the atmosphere. What a cool thing to have this restaurant inside of the Snow Peak flagship store.
This place was closed for half of a year due to a fire. I live close by and have been hearing about how great it was from neighbors that tried it. So my expectations were sky high.
That being said, I tried several appetizers and a main dish. The food was VERY BLAND. There was no creativity other than cooking the dishes an optimal state. What I mean by this is, if you have potatoes and Butter and use those two ingredients to cook a well cooked potato dish... that is what this restaurant is. I'm personally looking for something a little bit more. Adding salt and pepper may have helped. Its an expensive place to get these minimal dishes that I feel are pretty easy to make at home.
So... cool place to hang out. Bad place to go for an exceptional dinner.

Snow Peak's first affiliated restaurant in the United States is a slightly high-end Japanese restaurant. It recently changed its chef. The lunch and dinner menus are different, so this time I came for lunch.
The waiter didn't show us a table and asked us to find a seat by ourselves, and it was a time when there were almost no other customers. I ate ramen and sushi. The soy sauce soup of the ramen was good, but the chicken broth was slightly sweet and I didn't like it very much. The cooked noodles they emphasize taste rotten, as if the water temperature for cooking the noodles is too low. Surprisingly, the sushi rice was soggy. I feel like the choice of rice type is wrong, and the cooking method makes the rice soft and rotten overall. The fish is quite fresh.
The overall dining experience was mediocre and the food was a bit disappointing.

The vibe of the place is lovely, and the service was attentive. We had been here before the closure, and this is our first time back since it reopened. We used to enjoy the old menu.
However, this time around, the food was nothing to write home about. We ordered the 7-course omakase, and everything was good and prepared well, but it was nothing special. There wasn't a whole lot of creativity in any of the items that came out. They were, in essence, standard Japanese dishes done nicely. If you are relatively new to Japanese cuisine, this would be an example of decent versions of standard dishes, but nothing was very innovative; I was really hoping for new and creative twists using traditional techniques but with local, seasonal ingredients combined in unique ways. Not a bad experience, but not amazing.
Parking: There is a small lot attached to the building, but it's shared with residents, and dedicated spaces for the restaurant are limited. Street parking around there is next to impossible.
Kid-friendliness: We were mildly surprised to find some younger kids there, like younger than 10. It's not NOT kid-friendly, but it's more of a grown-up vibe; not so much a family-style restaurant.

Lovely atmosphere & aesthetically pleasing plates, however the flavors did not wow. I’ve been wanting to go here for a long time, & probably will not go back. I found it overpriced & underwhelming. Can’t say it’s worth the visit.

An unauthorized tip was added to my receipt after leaving a cash tip. Tried resolving it with the manager over the phone. Still waiting for the refund.
I would like to give takibi 5 stars however after the reopening, the refined experience seems to be off, from a kitchen that appears out of sync with the flow requirements of food to a team that are working hard with little direction. My food came out in the wrong order to a steak that had rested a little too long as to become a little colder than is expected. The identity of the restaurant has veered off from the traditional Izakaya with the refined experience that Snow peak/Takibi have long delivered to a new concept that is not well understood. Takibi has been the go to for refined Japanese dining and I hope they can regain that focus.

New best ramen in town! Got both of the meat options with all the toppings and a frozen glass of Sapporo on tap. Would definitely do it again!

We recently came here for our friend's birthday dinner. The interior and decor of the place was pretty nice and has that nice vibe to it. They also had an outdoor section. We ordered a good amount of food, both seafood and non-seafood related. For the non-seafood items - karaage, tonkatsu, t-bone steak, Takibi fried rice, Brussel sprouts, and miso soup. My friends also ordered a few sushi items. The karaage was my favorite out of the dishes. The t-bone steak was a bit on the chewier side. It would have been nice if it came with a knife to use to cut the piece into a smaller bite size, versus using just the chopsticks to try to put the large piece in the mouth. This was also the case with the tonkatsu. The miso soup was a bit on the saltier side. It was nice of them to take that off the bull since no one really ate it. They also ran out of a good amount of bottles of sake, which was a bummer.

A Japanese steakhouse with inspired sushi, amazing ambiance, and exceptional service. The food was perfectly prepared, and the generous pour of sake was a nice touch. It made for a wonderful date night on a chilly fall evening!

We had a phenomenal experience here! The new menu is wonderful. Food from the hearth was super tasty. Ben (handsome guy behind the bar) concocted some of the best cocktails we have ever had. Super friendly service and cool and cozy atmosphere! Will be back time and time again
