Tamales were huge and delicious. No indoor seating, but the heated covered area was actually pretty warm for December.

Disappointed, the birria taquitos were such a small portion for $17 bucks. They give you 4 small ones, with not enough filling. Not a full portion for one person. And I’m small, only weigh 110 pounds and still wasn’t full….the tamales were such a great size for the price I’ll say that! They hooked us up with sauce too so that was nice. But what disappointed me was it was so sweet! I wanted authentic tamales, these tastes like it had an American twist to it and I was not having it. Felt like I was just eating sugar. Will not be going back sadly.

Got the tinga de pollo tamale. Firstly, this is way, way more masa than what you would expect with a tamale. Way too much. Secondly, tinga is supposed to be spicy as it's made with chipotle adobo - instead they just barely waved a ketchup bottle at the chicken. So incredibly bland for a dish that should be bursting with flavor. The esquites were just corn and butter. That's it. No mayo/crema, no lime, no chili powder, no cotija. Folks, this is NOT esquites. It's just corn.
I should have known better than to try Mexican food in Portland.

I spent over $20 for a steak burrito and a single bottle of Jarritos. I figured this is what I pay for if I want a quality authentic meal. The steak was bland, and sometimes chewy, I even had to spit out a bite of steak because I just wasn't able to chew it.
The price was ridiculously high and I can find better burritos for incredibly cheaper at many other restaurants.
Their tamales I wanted to try it, but the menu was too confusing for them. I just wanted a simple chicken and cheese tamale or cheese tamale and I couldn't see those options listed immediately.
I honestly won't be revisiting this restaurant again. Too bad, their server was great and was so patient with me while I figured it all out.

The cochinita pibil tamale was so good I will be craving it for a long time. It was plenty big, too. I also highly recommend the queso fundido appetizer.

Nice spot for lunch. Was quiet on a Tuesday afternoon, and service was quick and friendly. Milanesa torta was meh, the cut of chicken was dry and the bean paste had very little flavor. My friend had the enchiladas, which looked fantastic. The enchiladas are served in a more traditional style, not what you would see in a lot of restaurants.

tamale boy is an awesome place. without a doubt, one of the best families I've had in a long time. I recommend it to anybody. we came there for the guten free food next door but keep coming back for the tamales. it's not the only thing on their menu. that's good. I've tried so far. I've absolutely loved and would recommend anybody. for a quick Pat, if you're anywhere around here, this is the place to go and I love their outdoor seating arrangement. you are in the mood for any kind of Mexican whatsoever. I would definitely swing by and check it out. generally not much of a wait to order and only 5 or 10 minutes wait for food
