Check in to pick up my to go food and told it will be a couple minutes. After 20 minutes of waiting ask what’s going on they hand me a bag that has been sitting on the counter for like 15 minutes. Get home and open the fries that half the normal size and has hair in it.
Go back to get the fries replaced, they just took the hair on top out and dumped a few more hot fries on top. There are a few hot fries and a bunch of cold fries and still hair in it.

Tanaka has wonderful Sandos. Big glass windows and situated on a corner makes it feel bright and airy.
Love coming here early and seeing what tasty treats are out there. Absolutely adore the Katsu Chicken Sando.

Food was super yummy! Me and my friend got the chicken katsu sandwiches, one classic and one spicy. Both delicious. Strawberry sandwich was a perfect sweet treat and the DONUTS!! The consistency of the bread was everything. I recommend the special ranch for the sandwiches. I personally didn’t like the dirty fries. Service was mediocre at best. It was completely transactional. No smile, no greeting, just “what would you like. ok, we’ll have it out.” I just think customer service should be more meaningful or at least—friendly? Also, the seating is convenient only for a quick bite, not meant for groups or a party over 2. Worth trying once for brunch/lunch. Will probably not return for the price.

I have never had such an amazing sandwich before. The spicy chicken katsu sandwich was extremely juicy and exactly what I was looking for. Don't get me started in the loaded fries or the katsu nuggets. My friend and I bought a donut for later that night and I almost cried when I ate it later cuz it was so freaking good. Im a generally lazy person so the fact that I actually came on here to write a review means quite a lot. Gonna be dining here much more frequently now!

Probably the best Tonkastsu I've ever had. The sandos are amazing, the dirty fries are spectacular, the service was fantastic, and the drinks were great! My wife and I went twice in our weekend trip. 100% will be back every time we visit Portland. Can't recommend it enough. EAT HERE!!
The Pork Katsu Sando we ordered is amazing! The portion is large and it tastes delicious. It’s worth mentioning that the staff on site were very friendly, showing lots of love and interacting with our kid. We will definitely come back!
