Got the chicken and the pork katsu sandwiches for our train ride. Even after sitting in our bags for a couple of hours, both were delicious even if they weren’t crispy anymore. Got extra sauce as others have advised and it was not truly necessary (but it was nice!) Tonkatsu sauce is like regular tonkatsu sauce, which is very yummy imo. Love that there is cabbage instead of lettuce, as cabbage sits better over time and doesn’t get wilty or weird like lettuce does in a bento.

We got our food in less than 10 mins and service was friendly. I think I may prefer Tokyo Sando’s chicken sandwich a little bit better but the cute ambiance and indoor seating spaces makes this preferable in the winter.

My one little gripe is that I wished the meat was a little wider and reached the edges of the sandwich bread. But overall I was full and happy.

Bad experience. Travel in Portland. We waited for 30 minutes to get the take out. Many people came after us got the food first. No explanation. Not worth the waiting at all.

The only good thing about this place is the bread pudding. This place had a better energy a couple months ago, the new staff don't seem to know what they're doing/don't care

Visited for an early dinner around 5 PM on a Friday with friends . Unfortunately, they were already sold out of the potato Katsu (my main mission!) and the curry dishes – though oddly, they still had curry available for sandwiches, so maybe just out of rice? For a Katsu spot with a small menu and two hours left before closing, it felt a bit surprising.

We were the only diners at the time, yet our food still came out lukewarm. Flavors were fine, but nothing memorable. With so many warm, welcoming, and stand out katsu options nearby, it’s hard to justify a return. If you’re craving great curry and good vibes, Ryoma Ramen a few blocks away is a much better (and cheaper) bet.

Good for a quick bite, but nothing special. Maybe 2 1/2 stars. I didn’t like the sauce on my pork sandwich.

Sandwiches are great, but the curry rice is the definition of comfort food.

Really enjoyed their matcha lattes and sandos. For their breakfast sausage sando which was solid, but their ebi sando was indeed a hidden gem. Great open space if you’re looking for a place with free WiFi. Will come back!

Shrinkflation has hit Tanaka HARD. Not only has the quality and portions of their meat gone down, but they’ve also increased their prices from $12 to $14 for the katsu sando and curry plate. My husband and I have started to notice this in late October. It’s such a shame because we had started dining here in July and were excited to have found some good katsu. Unfortunately we won’t be returning for their entrees. I gave two stars though because their bread pudding is some of the best I’ve had.

Quick service and tasty food! Nice spot for a casual lunch. Plenty of comfortable seating and easy street parking nearby considering that it is downtown.
