If you're searching for the best Haitian restaurant in Portland, look no further than Tap Tap. This vibrant spot isn’t just about incredible Haitian cuisine — it’s a full cultural experience that blends delicious food, stunning Haitian artwork, and energetic nightlife. This is easily one of the best Black-owned restaurants in Portland that offers an authentic taste of Haiti’s rich heritage right in the heart of the city.
From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by colorful, eye-catching Haitian art that sets a unique, welcoming atmosphere. The menu features traditional Haitian dishes crafted with fresh ingredients and bold flavors, making it a top choice for foodies like myself who are seeking something different and unforgettable.
What truly sets Tap Tap apart is its lively nightlife, especially the Kompa Haitian dancing nights. This energetic music and dance scene invites guests to immerse themselves in Haitian culture while enjoying great food and drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). Whether you’re out for dinner, a night of dancing, or both, Tap Tap is the best place to experience Haitian culture in Portland.
For anyone looking to support Black-owned businesses while enjoying exceptional food and an unforgettable cultural vibe, Tap Tap is hands down the best restaurant in Portland for a genuine Haitian experience.

Loved this little gem! Highly recommend the grilled fish! My partner is vegetarian and the owner quickly pointed out that most of the menu could be made meatless. Everything was delicious. We'll be back so we can try more items!

It was open late. The woman who runs it was charming and kind and even helped me practice my French. The food was ready super fast, and it tasted amazing! I got the fried chicken and black rice with legumes. Don't miss out on this gem!

I’ve been craving plantains and when I saw there was authentic Haitian food I had to stop and try. They were super friendly and were even generous enough to offer a bit of meat and pickled cabbage to try with my plantains just to make sure I had a flavorful experience. My boyfriend and I will definitely come back to visit the brick and mortar restaurant and have a full meal. The whole experience was kind, genuine and delicious!!!

Excellent taste, authentic, clean, what’s not to love? I received the Legume (like a stew/soup), rice and beans and selected a mango drink. I dined in the fresh air :)

The food is fantastic. High quality, delicious, with fantastic vegan options. Ask for their homemade tap tap hot sauce. It is so so so good. A bit of a kick but delicious.

Food was amazing!!! As a Haitian American, I truly appreciated the authenticity and the friendly staff. I 100% back getting the diri djon djon with fried chicken (and make sure to pour the sauce over the rice). The flavor won't disappoint!

Excellent excellent food- I tried the legume, rice & beans, fried plantain, griot, and pikliz. Everything was so good!! And very generous portion sizes. Family run and everyone was so kind. I was lucky enough to get to play a few rounds of mancala with Dieuson.
