I stopped in for lunch and got two veggie curries. The food was delicious and plentiful. It was a nice day to sit outside and enjoy a leisurely meal and Big Elephant Kitchen provided the perfect sustenance.

I have the worst food of my life time .I am really surprised of those guys who have given 4-5 rating to this kitchen . it's overpriced and extremely bad taste , I felt like vomiting and trashed everything. Please don't believe in fake ratings .

Very kind, welcoming staff (special shout out to Saleshni!) Delicious food!! Both the tandoori lamb and freshly made (NOT bottled) Mango Lassi are delicious! And the chutney beautifully complimented the dish.

Absolutely wonderful Indian food. I've been here a number of times and the quality has always been very good. I tend to get their meat and vegan combo plates which I can easily get two meals out of portion wise. Their roti, which is made to order, is also very good.

We used to love this place but two times in a row we’ve been sick from the mango lassi. Maybe they’re storing it incorrectly? We let them know after the first time and were told that sometimes the mangoes are “bad” and basically it’s just luck whether you get a good one or not so I guess watch out for that and order at your own risk!

Vibrantly flavorful rotating curries, highly recommended with a side of tasty fried bhajiya/pakora. Every time I stop by they have something new I've never thought of for a curry and it's always delicious! Whether papaya curry, green bean tomato, jackfruit, collard greens, or their meat standards, I've been pleasantly surprised by everything. My favorite way to order is the 1 meat + 2 veggie curry plate (which always includes chana masala) and then asking for their favorite combination of the day's options. Throw in a side of those bhajiya, with a little spicy chutney, and you will be set for a fantastic, diverse meal, with plenty of leftovers (if you can pull yourself away from the plate, that is).Vegetarian options: Perfect for vegetarians with their many rotating veggie curries.Kid-friendliness: Always see kids in the area.Parking: Decent amount of parking around the French Quarter on either street or behind the block.

Weekly customer here! The food is great and the service is wonderful. My favorites are the kidney bean rajna, the taro coconut curry and the chana masala!Dietary restrictions: Vegan options are always available in spades!

Handmade roti for an Indian person is not only nourishment for the body but the soul. I was feeling homesick for homemade Indian food and I saw that this food truck made hand made rotis. I ordered Roti, channa masala and the lamb curry. After the meal was over I had the biggest smile on my face because not only was the food good but it tasted like home. I have never eaten anywhere that tasted like home cooked Indian food. Also, very very generously priced. Ordered five rotis to go and will be coming back frequently.

Before I finished eating I had to write a review as the food is SO DANG GOOD. I am kicking myself for not trying this food cart sooner. The person who helped us couldn't have been nicer. The food was HOT upon pickup and smelled AMAZING through the container. It's tricky to find outstanding takeout that has vegan options. This is the place. We got the vegan curry (papaya--AMAZING), Bagjiya Pokura, vegan samosas. Everything was so flavorful with some heat but not too much (I'm a spice weenie), just the right amount of spice for me. I can't even describe how delicious every single thing was. Like flavor explosions in your mouth. If you're looking to try something new, I can't recommend more! So yummy! I'll be ordering again soon!

Plate comes with lentils over rice, salad, and a roti on the side.We got the chickpea curry and the daily vegan special curry (happened to be tofu). They were both really good! Roti and salad were yum as well

Seriously fantastic food and they were so nice. Excellent value for money and it's great that you can easily get an order with multiple curries in one container so you can sample several things. Lots of vegan options. And not just plain rice, so eating any leftover rice alone without the curry is still really tasty. Oh, and you get a roti with your order, which was also really good. Love this place!

Ordering curry in English can be hit or miss, but this place was a big hit. The portions are more generous and more nutritionally balanced than the menu would suggest, and I crave the samosas so badly whenever I’m away from Portland. On top of this the food truck is adorable and the service is so kind and friendly. Easily a five stars if I’ve ever seen one
