I keep coming back for their beef stew. It is a must try. I’ve tried it in other places and nothing beats theirs.

Good food (from an extensive menu), nice atmosphere, very thoughtful service, and easy parking (in the little covered off-street garage on NW 21st, underneath Walgreens), *and not even busy on a Saturday night - it deserves to be busier, and we’re happy to add this to our rotation!

My partner and I love Vietnamese food. We’ve been to Vietnam twice and were thrilled to find excellent beef pho and vegan pho at The Boiling Bowl. The server was super friendly, the prices were good, and parking was free for guests. Definitely recommend!

Short Answer: go. Its good.
Long Answer:
We went on a monday early afternoon and it was quiet at least for the first half of the time and thats just fine. The vibe was chill and mostly quiet depending who came in. We got the pad thai, taro boba, and beef pho with tendon, flank, and 1 other I cant rememeber.
The boba is hands down the best I ever had(but I also just love cold taro)
The pho was solid. I am a beef guy. Its rare to encounter specifically tendons and they arent crunchy or too soft. I was blown away. It was like eating big savory boba pearls. So good. If it was up to me we would be having every business dinner here. The service was a superhero. They seemed to have low staff and they were moving hard fast and like a cool gentle breeze the same time. Our server always came to us so calm and kind it was so nice expecially as 2 people who didnt really sleep last night. Highly reccomend if you get time to stop by, dont let it hide from you. If you walk by TURN AROUND and get in there its so nice.

Broth was very mediocre at best. Noodles were broken and very soggy. The meat items tastes stale. Bean sprouts, basil and jalapeño slices are fresh.
Service was very good because the young man was polite and attentive.
Dining environment is above average.
Probably will not come back because my seven years old daughter felt the tendon piece is too fatty, so were the noodles.

I would come here specifically for the grilled pork!
--- drinks ---
Tropical twister ⭐⭐⭐⭐
- not overly sweet
- my boyfriend loved it
Ha noi egg coffee ⭐⭐⭐⭐
- I wouldn't reorder because of the sweetness
- it wasn't saccharine though, just sweeter than i would like but I think that's necessary for this drink
- wish the coffee was stronger
--- food ---
Chicken lettuce wrap ⭐⭐
- didn't love the added taste here
❤️D2. Thit nuong cba ram ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- I really loved this, this was as advertised
- the pork is lean in the best way
- it's been so long since I've made rolls like this and I missed it, i was able to load up with veggies
X1. Xao xa ot lemon grass stir fry⭐⭐⭐⭐
- it's good but a little oily
- missing a flavor or maybe doesn't have enough tumeric or something?
- my favorite one is actually at friendship kitchen, I wonder if it's bc of the spices

Staff was super friendly! Really appreciated the multiple suggestions on vegan options and how different menu items could be customized to be made vegan. As other reviewers have stated and after trying many Vietnamese spots around Portland, the vegan pho I think is the best! Loaded with veggies and tofu, and the broth is so well done. I came in yesterday on a rainy day and sitting next to the window with the pho was so calming and nice. The atmosphere of the restaurant was really chill too and it wasn't very busy in the early afternoon.
I ordered a large bowl of beef pho, but the meat was extremely chewy and tasted old. I called over the only staff member working and complained. A little while later, he brought me a small bowl with a few pieces of noticeably better-quality meat—but never said anything or followed up. Was this some kind of test bowl? I’m still confused. In the end, I paid for the full bowl and left the place hungry. I’ve been to several Vietnamese restaurants, and this was by far the worst experience.

Great food but consistently terrible service. Feel bad for the cooks, they kill it while front of house is lazy and rude and just don't care.
