Food was okay, service made me feel like i was bothering them even though there was hardly anyone there on a Tuesday at dinner time.

Great neighborhood spot with a solid selection of spirits at good prices. Buffalo cauliflower bites are top notch.

Great bar with a cool, cozy, conversational atmosphere and a covered patio with fire pits. Good drink selection. Food is good!

Wanted lunch and cocktails, but we stood near the bar at the entrance for some time without any of the servers acknowledging us or telling us what to do, so we decided that maybe we should sit down at a table. We waited for some time at the table after we read the menu and decided what to have, but still no one came. There were two customers watching the tv and one at the bar. finally we gave up and went somewhere else.

Awesome place. Ask about their whiskey cards.

One of my favorite bars in Portland! There’s an awesome selection of cocktails, whiskeys, and a pretty sizable food menu. Everything I’ve had here is delicious! Favorites are the olive oil & salt popcorn and the buffalo cauliflower, but you really can’t go wrong. Great outdoor, dog-friendly patio.

Dietary restrictions: Many great vegetarian and vegan food options

Parking: Plenty of street parking in the area, some free

We love this place! Great spot to grab a drink after work or a bite to eat. Their cocktails are incredible! Fair warning - the last time we stopped by there were a large amount of children which seemed strange for a whiskey bar. A kid came up to our table and screamed in our faces while we were eating (I wish I was kidding). Either way, not the Old Golds fault. Just irresponsible parents. Every other time we’ve came the vibes have been immaculate ??

6-stars for The Old Gold!

The quintessential North Portland neighborhood bar. Since Day 1 it's been inviting, inclusive, and family friendly.

There's an great beer selection, excellent food, and more whiskey than you could shake a stick at (I think I used that correctly)... A lot of whiskey. And a solid Mezcal selection too.

The burger is 10/10.

I've always enjoyed the staff and the vibe is consistently good.

A little noisy for a bar. Music was very loud for a place that welcomes minors until 8. Food was good. Up charges for changing sides not obvious. Not major, but should be brought up when offering the option. Great whiskey selection.

The food is a mixed bag. Pretty typical bar food. The drinks on the other hand are fun and they have a wide selection of spirits. Service is great.

Edit: Taking down to one star. A representative of the restaurant contacted me by email after they read my review making this offer, "we want to make it right for your party." After responding in the affirmative, I never heard back. I reached back out a week later regarding their offer. Two weeks later now no response. This place doesn't do what they say.I've lived in the neighborhood four years and tonight was my fourth and last visit. Went with neighbors who swear this place is good but each time I've visited the Old Gold it misses the mark on food, value, and service. I don't mind paying $16 for a burger but here I do. Also tried the chicken banh mi and there was barely any chicken. The ingredients are quality but there's barely any of those ingredients on the plate. Nice cocktail selection but having to order at the bar and get almost no rapport from the bartender felt like, what am I doing here in this place. The regulars we went with with were quite disappointed that the french fries had changed and were no longer the thin crispy fries of days gone by. Consistency is everything. Low energy, low quality, fool's gold.

I ended up getting a ham cheese sandwich, garden salad, and loaded cheesy fries. It was by far one of the best salads I have had in a while. Leafs, carrots, and cucumbers are so crisp and fresh that you can almost taste the dirt. Sandwich and fries made with real Tillamook cheddar cheese. Staff was friendly and willing to try new drink recipes. For the service, overall quality, and price, this place is adequately priced. You get what you pay for, don't be a bum, and TIP your bartenders.Thank you, "Old Gold" for you service and hospitality. I'll be coming back soon.
