All the chairs at our table, 6 of them, were old and wobbly, one was pretty much falling apart so much so that the occupant felt it was unstable enough to be dangerous. Ordering at the bar means that the traffic flow is always congested and often blocked. There's no order to the system for putting in your order, so be prepared for a long wait. DO NOT order the cheddar/chutney sandwich, the worst sandwich I've ever had. Dry tasteless bread, mild rubbery cheese [not the British sharp cheddar such as stilton at all] which was cut into numerous small odds and ends which kept falling out and okay chutney, not very piquant though. The bottom piece of bread was torn from the application of butter which was not at room temperature. The whole sandwich was SO dry. Nothing else on the plate, no accompaniment. Please take that off the menu asap.

Best meal we had in Portland. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Service was great considering the place was packed for a soccer match. We'll definitely be back!

We have loved the fish and chips here for years. Paired with a Dark ‘n Stormy it is perfection. We are now enjoying the outdoor seating. The fish and chips here can’t be beat. Miss the old recipe mushy peas though. They were divine.

We are British seeking British food. We were not disappointed and this felt like a pub back home. The food is AMAZING! I don't think you would ever hear me say this, but I was gushing about the mushy peas that had a bit of curry flavor to them. OMG the meat pie was absolutely INCREDIBLE. The pastry on it, perfection. Every fine detail brought us home. Though they did not have Boddington's on tap, I forgave them ;) They had some lovely ales and largers. I am looking forward to going back. Even our wee ones loved their sausage rolls. Whilst they were not serving traditional blanched and fried chips, the ones they made with the sauce were so good that my kids made a song about them and left with handfuls of chips. The only drawback was that there was only on street parking, which we worry about due to the homeless on the sidewalks and don't want our car to get knicked. This area, seemed okay, but the homeless people camping on the sidewalks made us want to come during daylight (before 5PM) if we go with our kids again. Not all homeless folks are bad, but we don't want to take the chance with our kids.

The heroes who opened this establishment should be proud of themselves, their parents should be proud of them, and the whole world should be proud of them, because this is one of the most magical places on earth. If you think you're going to like it here, you're going to LOVE it. Only one cask ale, but that's enough, and there's more next door. Bacon butty. Chips with curry and gravy. I might just move in here.

Lovely place, great staff. Solid pub food and big TVs. Opens early for international soccer games. Has a casual vibe but definitely not a dive.

Great beers and vibe. Sticky toffee pudding is incredible!

Timbers on all screens, laid back atmosphere. Patio to the side of the building. I enjoyed my fish n chips, which like most places in Portland, was rockfish. I ordered a side of the curry gravy, which was flavorful, and delightful as Horse Brass no longer makes the curry gravy, which I loved. The steak & ale pie of God was also very flavorful. They have large, freshly cut, double-fried fries, served hot and crisp. I would go just for a side of fries and curry gravy, what an excellent combination. I will definitely be back, especially for the fries!

Behold the mother of fish n chips, soccer centric and beer! it's a perfect combination. The fish and chips was lightly fried and had all the texture, crunch, meatiness in each bite. add some fries and smashed peas to make it a full experience. Inside there's tons of beers on tap and sometimes a pop-up shop with exclusive soccer jerseys. definitely a great spot to watch your favorite team or upcoming world cup

Couldn't conjure up a better atmosphere to watch an English Premier League game on a Saturday Morning. Anytime we're in Portland, this will be our must-go spot to watch some footy. Also - great Guinness Bloody Mary

A++ staff, cocktails, and food. Today was my third time in and it was an ideal place to watch a soccer match with a cold one. The staff was also so nice and welcoming.

First off, this is NOT authentic British food. It’s overly sweet and they have clearly never tasted proper mushy peas. Please for the sake of anyone coming overseas don’t waste your time. Also the server we had wanted to automatically bring our tablet for checking out with her desired 20% tip, which was laughable considering I waited 15 minutes for a beer and she never checked on us except when collecting her tab. A joke of a place.

Great service and food. I highly recommend this place to watch European football matches.

If you like soccer and beer, this is the place for you. Great little bar on Hawthorne that specialises in English pub fare, fun cocktails, and wide selection of beer. I had the Fish and Chips and the fish was perfectly fried and the chips were fantastic. The mushy peas...well...I'm gonna assume that if you're not British (and maybe even if you are) they are an acquired taste. For beer, I tried the Away Days lager and it was great. The only reason this place gets three stars instead of four is that I stopped here two weeks ago for dinner and they were closed, even though their website and the sign on their door said they were supposed to be open. I know businesses have trouble with staffing and I'm not mad they were closed, I was just frustrated they didn't even stick a sign on the door or a note on the website. It's still a cool place and definitely worth a stop.
