Christy (maybe with a K) was the sweetest introduction to a new place for me. She is gorgeous and sweet beyond words and made me the best gin(not my fave but I asked her for her fave) cocktail for my birthday. I will ask for this drink often now. Or make it at home.
The Vern is no longer the Vern, it had been tamed, gentrification, and that's fine----do we really need the smell of careless urine drifting out from the men's room as it did in 2013? The unexplained Ore-Ida box under the pool table? The Vern is an institution in the Inner SE and we'd be crazy to deride this steller dive bar even if it is a rom-com dive bar. The bartender had ironic chest hair and shades meant to appear from an am-pm but were actually probably expensive....
Pinnacle Portland tavern experience. Where everybody is welcome. Big open interior with your standard pinball and video poker. Huge decorated bar with pleasant staff that dont take no shit. And a massive patio thats perfect for calm nights or for a smoke and chat.
