Authentic Chicago food with a hint of Portland flair! Being an ex-resident of the Windy City, it’s been hard to find anyone who can replicate many of the Chicago staples. When I heard about The Windy Rose I was immediately interested. The fact that Brandon uses Vienna Beef was all I needed to know. I ordered the Italian Beef and it was indeed excellent. Perfectly juicy with excellent giardiniera. In addition to the sandwiches and hot dog standards you can find other interesting menu items such as tacos and pizza puffs! I’m really excited to visit again to try more of the menu. Highly recommend!

Decided to try the special last night and it was awesome. The fried catfish with smoky cheddar grits was so good! It came with collard greens, usually not my favorite, but these were tender, beautifully braised and dripping with flavor. The sauces were also dynamite! The hot sauce brought the heat, and the tartar was a prefect fresh accompaniment to the crispy, fried fish. I will definitely be back!

Chef Brando catered our law firm’s lunch, and everything was fantastic. His sandwiches were delicious, the soups (we had tortilla soup and gumbo) were amazing, and the balsamic reduction for strawberries afterwards was a perfect addition. Everyone was satisfied and stuffed. We look forward to having Chef Brando cater for us again, and I highly recommend him!
