The vegan miso katsu sando is so yum. I ordered it as is, but I do think some additional black garlic would have balanced out the sweetness of the sauce and bread. The tofu is so crunchy and the sauce is sweet and pretty runny, but the bread holds together nicely and doesn’t really get soggy as you eat it. Still be prepared for some sticky fingies at the end.
I got the miso tofu option, which hit the spot. The breading was really crispy, which contrasted well with the soft bread. There was just enough sauce. I enjoyed it. The staff was really friendly and nice.
The Miso Tofu Sando included panko-breaded tofu, miso sauce, black garlic, and cabbage on white bread. The sauce was good, but not evenly spread, so some bites had a lot while others had almost no flavor.
Tokyo Sando is definitely one of the more unique spots downtown, the Japanese sandwich concept is super fun and the presentation is on point. I tried one of their signature sandos and the flavor was solid, but the bread-to-filling ratio made it feel a little dry. That said, I’d still come back to try more. The vibe is great, and you can tell they put thought into the whole concept. Just hoping for a bit more juiciness next time!
Tofu katsu of my dreams. So crispy and flavorful. Glad we came across this gem!
Some restaurants I give 5 stars sort of begrudgingly. Because it's better than 4 and there's no 4.5 options. But I think I'll be fully obsessed with this little cart. Everything about it was beautiful. Milk bread, perfectly crisp yet still moist fried katsu, generous amounts of cabbage. And miso. And black garlic.
Anyway, we ate the miso pork and the chicken namban. I'd choose the pork again for the black garlic. I wish I was eating this right now. And I'm eating something fairly tasty so that's saying something. We also got the karaage which was heaven for the first 5 minutes but mediocre after about 15. So eat that fast.
I hope someday we're in Portland again because I'm dying to try the curry sando. In the meantime I'll be trying my hand at my own version.
Also, it should be said that the person taking orders was super sweet. Great service for sure.
This is now my favorite food cart in Portland.
This place is every bit as good as people say it is. Owners keep the line moving quick and are kind and welcoming. Katsu is crispy and hot, house miso sauce is sweet, tangy, and unbelievably good. Black garlic adds an extra pop of flavor and seals the deal. Highly recommend.
Cannot say enough about the food. It was wonderful!

The food is amazing and I love where they are located. The owners are also amazing people and very humble. I wish they were able to have more supply as they tend to sell out quickly.
I usually don't mind sweet savory dishes but this sandwich was a little bit too much for me. It was still really good and filling
OMG….sando was off the chain. Miso sauce and black garlic are a game changer. The side of fried chicken has amazing flavor with the lemon sauce. Prices are very reasonable. Get there early because they sell out quickly. Easily the most popular food cart there. Service was very friendly. My only gripe is that they don’t sell bottled water. Food is pretty damn good. Outside seating is covered and heated.

10 Sando Stars!!!! Wow. I’ve had some great food in Japan, but nothing quite like this.
