Just had my first visit here and it was so good. The vegan pork belly is something I would have never ordered, but so glad my daughter did because it was amazing!!
I got the fried rice which was also really good, and had asked them to add broccoli. Most places just toss a couple pieces on top when you make this request, but Van Hanh put a ton of perfect bite sized broccoli all through my fried rice. Perfect, and much appreciated by this broccoli lover. We will definitely...read full review

Van Hanh Restaurant offers delicious vegan and vegetarian cuisine, with convincing vegan "meat" options that even non-vegans will enjoy. The restaurant supports the Vietnamese Buddhist community and serves a variety of flavorful dishes. The food is tasty, featuring crispy bean curd skins and flavorful sandwiches, and the BBQ "pork" and noodles are highly recommended, with the pork being super crispy and well sauced. The menu also includes dishes like bun bo hue (the spicy noodles) and banh xeo. Customers can order from the counter, and the staff is friendly. A box of almond cookies makes a nice treat to share. While the restaurant has some accessibility limitations, such as washrooms up a steep flight of stairs, it remains a favorite spot for many. The restaurant has been around for a long time and supports the community by serving both vegans and those following Vietnamese traditions. Despite being understaffed at times, the service is appreciated. Overall, Van Hanh is a beloved part of the Portland food scene, offering a place where people can enjoy their childhood meals in a plant-based way, and it continues to be a place worth visiting.
