Absolutely amazing vegan diner! The best bacon tempeh ever. Supper cute vibes, friendly staff and great kombucha flavors. Couldn’t recommend more ?

The location, views, unique and yummy food (I woofed down my lentil burger in record time), big windows and old school counters and booths make for a fantastic combo. The wait staff gave off a happy, helpful, chill vibe and prices were reasonable. A one-of-a-kind place perfect for Portland's foodie reputation.

Came in here after many years with my family. Recently went vegan and had an itch for vegan comfort food. We were pleasantly surprised when we noticed how well the food was seasoned and tasted. But the best part was the Service we received from our server Gabby. We will definitely be coming back and recommending this place to everyone.

Disappointed there’s not even enough gravy for one bite of biscuit….

We've been here a few times for breakfast already and even ordered meals to go. The food is fantastic! My only criticism is the vegan "bacon" and "sausage". I've been vegan for almost 8 years so I've had plenty of fake meats. The bacon here has a near-perfect crispy texture. It comes with a sauce on top that tastes a little like seasoned agave with too much liquid smoke in it. It makes it a little too wet and has a slightly bitter aftertaste. I think this recipe could be revamped by marinating it first and then frying it as you normally do with no extra sause on top. My go-to marinate that even non-veggie eaters love is:1/4 cup soy sauce1/4 cup water1 tsp liquid smoke1 tsp smoked paprika1 tsp garlic powder1/2 tsp black pepper2 tablespoons nutritional yeast1 tablespoon maple Syrup2 tablespoons oilThe sausage taste and texture were not good to me personally. I had my waitress replace it after I took one bite. My guess is that this is a walnut/oatmeal mix. Maybe changing to a walnut and rice patty could improve the texture and using a simular spice mix as you use on your potatoes.I recomend getting more potaoes or mushrooms if its your 1st time here. Other then that, you can go wrong with just aboyt anything on the menu.Dietary restrictions: Dairy allergy, vegan

Our server Gabby was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is a cute and clean blast from the past. The food was yummy and filling. The carrot cake was the best I have ever had. I also want to say I thought the promotion of other vegan restaurants at the table was especially cool and thoughtful. Thank you to everyone who is a part of this place for all you do!!! ❤️

I've been to the SLC location multiple times so had to hit up the Portland location while in town. The biscuits and gravy is typically my favorite dish, I felt the one I got here was not quite on the same tier as the SLC location but was still very good. However, the nachos were absolutely mind blowingly good!!!! However y'all are seasoning the jackfruit just blew my mind!!! I will be dreaming of those nachos until I can return :) LOVE LOVE LOVE Vertical Diner!!

Had breakfast for dinner. The potatoes were great. The Gf pancakes inedible, something in the mix made me cough with every bite so I set them aside. The “bacon” was the grossest tasting thing I’ve ever eaten. The eggs were OK so I made do with potatoes and eggs. I realize there are not a TON of vegan places but I’ve eaten at several and they have been amazing. My wife’s salad was soggy and wet. I applaud what they are doing in concept but the recipes need to be really dialed in and consistent. Good reviews on here lead me to believe we just hit an off night. The fries were good. The ketchup was like 75 percent water. What was that about?

What a shame such nice people and a good idea for the area but the food was boring and no taste.I would make sure I was using plenty of fresh spices and herbs.Vegan ,It’s all about the freshness and flavor, right? At this point, I think I would preferred to chew on a PineTree….

It's one of those vegan dinners that is barely enough to get by and the only reason most of us vegans eat here is because of the location. It is no longer because of the food quality that we venture here, it is merely because it's the only all vegan restaurant on the West side for, and has been for the longest

After getting my tires replaced, I encountered a feeling of hunger on the way home. Saw this place was on the way home…an hour later I’m sitting in my car, thankful I got the banana pancakes with the tofu scramble AND country potatoes (seasoned to perfection). The server was so kind too—I’ll have to come back again!
