Great appetizers, was super surprised with the honey lemon ricotta spread. I would go back just for that, its a must and affordable.
Pizzas are spendy but take it with a grain of salt. If you're use to eating 4 slices of regular pizza, you'll only need 1-2 from here. It is dense an flavorful an eat bite is a mouthful.
Highly recommend picking 1 or 2 toppings and adding provolone and extra cheese. If you choose to come get pizza from here, you are here for the quality cheese, ingredients and the fact that a $40 dollar pie can last you 3 days. (Less if you're drunk or smoke weed)
10/10 absolutely love it

You know the old game of telephone? Where you start with one thing and, through the telling, it becomes kind of a funny facsimile of the original? That's Via Chicago.
It's pizza. It's mid. It's trying very hard to brand itself. But hey, it's still pizza. With unappetizing crust.

By far the best single slice of pizza I have ever had.

Recently ordered their “Meaty” whole pie and I have to say I was quite impressed. I’ve only ever have had slices from here but I have to say it was perfect execution with the amount of spice from the peppers and still being able to clearly taste the sausage. I get upset with the lack of sauce from other pizza places so I was so excited to see a healthy amount of sauce on a pie. Will be back!

Was a really cool setup and great staff. The downside for me personally is ordering a meaty pizza, expecting just meat cheese and sauce, but then you're met with celery, cauliflower, onion and jalapeños. Jalapeño id be ok with. But celery and cauliflower on a meaty pizza, just not my thing. I love the innovation though 💡. User error for not fully reading the ingredients. Flavor was good. A bit dry but mostly good.
Meaty pizza slice. Light beer.
This was my second time eating a pizza from here. It's a fine pizza, but it's not as good as Dove Vivi. It's also nowhere near what I grew up with, which I've shared below in photos.
The real issue was the way my friend was treated when they ordered this pizza to bring to me as a gift. My extremely friendly and pleasant friend was treated with rudeness and hostility when ordering .
***If you set up shop in a historically black neighborhood, no matter how gentrified and hip it has become, be ready to serve the black residents of said neighborhood with a smile. It is literally the least you could do.***
Will not be eating here again. My suggestion? Check out Dove Vivi. You can also get Lou Malnati and Gino's East pizzas shipped to you if you're dying for the real thing. OR, do what we did before any of that was an option and make your own. Recipe in photos, courtesy of The Great Chicago-Style Pizza Cookbook (notes by my own dear Ma).

NSF BIPOC. Rude service, which is a shame since the pizza was decent. Really wanted to like and support this place after spending $50 on one pizza and one dessert for pick up, getting condiments slammed down near me, not even handed to me, and being made to wait for a pick up order… I will not be recommending this place to any one, especially NE Pdx residents.

Good cheesy pizza. We got the Italian beef. It was good but might need a side of marinara if you like it saucey. Love the outdoor seating and location. Fun wine bar next door.

This place is new to me after they moved to Prescott. Love it! If they stayed open a bit later until 10pm it would be great

I really wanted to love Via Chicago, especially as someone managing both gluten and dairy allergies. I built my own medium pizza with the gluten-free crust and the vegan cheese combo (Daiya and tofu ricotta). Unfortunately, it just didn’t hit the mark for me. The crust was thinner and a bit tougher than expected (definitely not worthy of the Chicago style title), but the biggest issue was the cheese… It was so heavy and overpowering that it completely overshadowed the rest of the pizza. Being from Chicago, I fully understand that Chicago style pizza has a lot of cheese, but when you’re working with alternative cheeses, certain alterations need to be made because they simply DO NOT cook the same as regular cheese options. The texture ended up being more slimy than satisfying, and there was more cheese than crust. There was actually more cheese than anything else, including the toppings that I added (pepperoni, pineapple and supposedly onion, but I didn’t see or taste that on the pizza)
Ultimately, I understand that allergy-friendly options are often more expensive, but when I’m paying $35 for a medium pizza, I at least hope I’ll want to eat the leftovers. Sadly, that wasn’t the case here. While I appreciate the effort to offer gluten-free and vegan options, I don’t think I’ll be returning.
If you’re looking for great gluten-free and vegan pizza in Portland, I’d highly recommend Boxcar instead, they do it Detroit style and they do it right!

The pizza is delicious. The rest was extremely disappointing. I ordered an Italian grinder and received a sandwich with very little meat, a sprinkle of giardenar and tons of greens covered in balsamic vinegar. It didn't say anything about vinegar in the description and it ruined the sandwich.
The antipasto we ordered came as a charcuterie board not a salad. Lastly the vibe was PDX bougie with a weirdly hovery staff not at all a Chicago restaurant vibe.

Great pie. Sat outside with a pint of beer while we waited. I do Uber eats on the side and can tell you I stop in for a pick up order and had to try myself. Was not disappointed. I go to the Star pizza often but things may be changing after this visit. Also had the Chicago beef sandwich. Was very good.
