We stumbled by this place as we were looking for a place to finish the evening off at. The place is unique in how the interior is set up with multiple dining area as well as an enclosed patio. I belief the owner was the one working this day and was super nice to us as we decided on what we wanted to do. We ended having a couple of drinks and ordered the special - steak and shrimp plate to share. The food was decent, but the experience was great. It's definitely a place to come and check out.

I have lived in portland all 22 years of my life. Been everywhere from higgins to kati to dos hermanos and nongs. Jaze hut without a doubt is in the top 5 best meals i have EVER had in portland. The poke with brown rice is MARVELOUS, TREMENDOUS AND SUPERB! Please spend your money here they will make it well worth it. Not only is it seasoned expertly, but its really healthy food too. Cant give enough love.

BTW to the guy who left a 1 star review you have the pallet of a 5 year old and your mom looks like a pufferfish

If I could give Jaze Village Hut 6 stars I would! Jay is the nicest guy and makes you feel at home. His homemade hot sauce is to die for. This is the best place for date night in Multnomah Village. 10/10 recommend.

Have been wanting to try this place for awhile and wow...wish I never did. I don't know where to start because everthing was so bad. The cod, shrimp and steelhead were overcooked and incredible bland, nothing was seasoned. The sauce was terrible and awfully balanced and you get about 1/3rd cups rice, the rice itself was mushy in some parts and fine in others. Vegetables were terrible as well and cooked with what seemed like jarred garlic. The one thing I will give them is that is will be memorable for me in that it might the worst meal I've ever had in my life. Picture included was what I saw when I opened the box. Meal was $22

It's like a downeast shack on the coast in Maine. Great seafood. Humble seating arrangements.

One of my favorite things about restaurants is the expressionism of the owner / chef. At the Village Hut, you walk into an eclectic place crafted with imagination and with a focus on nooks and crannies.
There are seats outside, inside, in their own, amongst others, and all of this nestled carefully at the roads edge.
It cozy and hip.
Seafood is a focus on the menu and logically paired with other quality proteins.
We ate well and enjoyed simple yet well prepared dishes.
When I come to other cities, The Village Hut is exactly the type of space I wish to find. Anyone can build a cookie-cutter restaurant with four walls and rows of tables. But it takes a visionary chef and owner to build a space that works with your senses and creates a venue to sit and relax and enjoy food.
Whenever I am back in Portland, I will make my way here again and enjoy seeing what Ray has cooked up, created, and made for his guests.
Kudos to Ray.

Not your usual restaurant experience, but that's a good thing! Super fresh seafood, fun and engaging owner and staff and of course really good food. It's a quirky set up, which I love and they are all about local and fresh and should be supported heavily!
