I try to be able to afford voodoo when I go out of town grocery shopping and whenever I can I will

Voodoo is so ungodly overrated. Subpar donuts nuked with tacky, sugary shtick. Portland has dozens of donut shops, most of them are better and you can get in and out without languishing in the ridiculously long lines full of tourists.

We went here a few nights ago, 5 min before closing and the guy was really nice and let us in. He was obviously in a rush to get out of there, but was still very professional and nice about us coming in 5 min to close. Another couple was like 2 min to close and he also let them in. This is the way it should be, but I find it rare these days.
Anyway, the donuts were shockingly fresh for this time of the day, and they were tastier than usual as well. I've been a long time customer of all of the Voodoo Donut shops and absolutely love them! The employees and customer service are always exceptional!
One complaint - you've been skimping on the jelly filling inside the GoTarts. I'm not happy about this - they've been like 1/4 to 1/3 full and they used to be full all the way through. Please fix this, bc these are my all-time favorites!
Also, I thought that the voodoo doll had Bavarian cream, but it had some kind of jelly that I didn't like the taste of. Did you change this or is my memory off?
Anyway, I highly recommend the Gotart(full of jelly filling;) and the Marshall Mathers. My daughters love the Grape Ape and Dirt ❤️

Voodoo Doughnut is wildly overrated and deeply offensive once you look past the gimmicks. Founded in 2003 and still operated by two white men from Portland, the company has no connection to Southern roots or authentic voodoo traditions, yet it built its brand by appropriating Black culture. Most disturbing is their use of the image of a Black man to sell their “voodoo” donuts. As a Black person, this is deeply offensive. Black identity and imagery are being used as marketing props to generate wealth for white owners with no respect, understanding, or accountability.
The donuts themselves are nothing special—overly sweet, poorly executed, and reliant on sloppy decorations, half-smudged designs, pentagrams, and shock-value shapes instead of actual craftsmanship or flavor. The service is poor, the hype is overblown, and the brand survives almost entirely on novelty.
What makes this worse is that Voodoo Doughnut has done nothing meaningful for the Black community. There is no reinvestment, no education, no acknowledgment—just continued exploitation of Black imagery to sell unhealthy, low-quality products. This is a clear example of Black culture being commodified for profit while offering nothing in return

I love this area better than the original spot, and its more chill here. And as usual, great creativity on doughnuts

This is a Portland icon. Their unique flavor combinations is what makes them worthwhile. My personal favorite is the Bacon Maple Bar. They are a primarily to-go place, but there is some seating.

We frequent this location often but tonight was special. The extremely dapper gentleman behind the register (well dressed to say the least) noticed we had both been crying. The fact that he took the time to talk to us to see if we were ok really meant a lot. Your good deed was a little silver lining on a dark day. Thank you again. I hope your good karma is coming. ❤️ And the donuts are amazing as always 😊

A cultural experience more than a culinary experience. Donuts are good. What set them apart on my last visit was that I went with my father in law who has Parkinson's. He needed the restroom and some special accomodations and the Voodoo staff bent over backwards to help him. Thanks, folks. I am grateful.

It's very sad to know they no longer sale the Hibiscus doughnut at this location. They're #1 doughnut can only be found at the downtown Portland location where you can't find parking. Such a let down!!!! I ask about the Vancouver WA location because I live in Camas WA and no, they don't sale it there either. Voodoo should do better!!!!! BRING BACK the HIBISCUS DOUGHNUT!!!!!

I'd heard about Voodoo for years. Work had me driving to Oregon. One of my stops took my right past Voodoo. I flipped around and went to get some doughnuts. I don't know the guys name but he was very personable and we chatted for quite a bit while I was deciding what wanted. Got a half dozen had the Grape Ape Bacon Maple bar 2 Raspberry filled & I can't remember the other two. But I ended up doing another delivery a week later and stopped in again . The prices for the shirts hats & other Voodoo things are definitely pricey.

“Good Things Come in Pink Boxes and Cups” :)
Visiting from out of town, Voodoo Doughnut greeted us with a uniquely eccentric atmosphere, filled with the irresistible smell of freshly baked sweets waiting to be devoured. The selection of doughnuts was vast, ranging from classics like glazed, maple bars, and cake doughnuts to their more creative options such as Voodoo Dolls and other artisanal creations.
We ordered the Voodoo Doll, Bacon Maple Bar, The Homer, and the Churro Cheesecake, each offering its own unique blend of sweetness and creativity. The dough was consistently fluffy with a pleasant yeasty flavor throughout. To pair with the doughnuts, the Voodoo Magic Roast featured a smooth medium roast profile, with hints of dark chocolate and caramel upfront, followed by a subtle fruity sweetness at the finish.
Overall, the artisanal creativity of the doughnuts combined with the fun, friendly atmosphere may entice you to come back for more—almost as if you’re under a spell.
