Manager is super rude. Disrespectful. Some of the staff were rude as well. Food was good but very bad customer service!

the owner was racist towards my hispanic friend. he went to pick up the order for me. other people came through that were white, and the owner refused to give my friend the order and accused him of stealing it. had to go in and pick it up myself while i was sick. the food here is generally good, i did get food poisoning one time. but the owner is racist. do not go here if you are a person of color, more than likely you will be treated unfairly. this happened back in 2023 but i saw a tiktok of people talking about their own negative experiences with the owner, so now i know it wasn’t just a one time occurrence. all the wait staff are all extremely pleasant and do a great job, but the owner makes it a very uncomfortable environment.

me and my boyfriend have been coming to this place for quite a while and everything would be amazing, friendly employees, and great customer service. today, when we walked in the manager was arguing with two girls, as the girls were walking away the manager proceeded to tell us “ are you guys here for take out “ we said “no” then he said “ then what are you here for “ in a rude tone, like?? but me and my boyfriend still decided to eat, AND when we were eating the manager passed by and just took our food AS we were still eating it!! the manager is the problem and RUDE ASFFF we’re NEVER going back

Absolutely horrible experience. While looking for the bathroom with my sister, I accidentally went behind the wrong curtain. Instead of handling it politely, the owner screamed across the restaurant at us and said “I don’t give a shit.” His behavior was aggressive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable for someone running a business. I did not feel safe in this restaurant and will never be coming back. Avoid this place at all costs.

Nice waitress, obviously trying very hard. The app they want you to order and pay through is worthless, it loaded an ad, crashed and then wouldn't reboot. So we ordered through the waitress who mentioned that it barely worked. The place is really nice, a truly neat place to eat and part of the Salem underground city. Wife had the beef bowl and said it was good. Before I say anything more let me preface this with the fact that I have eaten in prison, I have dined in the Hotel Sarajevo in 1992, I have eaten MRE's cold in Pakistan with no Tabasco sauce, so it is without a doubt that I can say that the Miso soup was the worst thing I have ever eaten that I actually paid for. It consisted of an instant ramen. Not the .39 cent top ramen, but the .99 cent instant ramen from the Japanese store, boiled in sea water and a slice of undercooked ham. I didn't say a word, tipped the girl 30% becuase none of this was her doing. I think they have good meals and bad ones, I ordered the one so bad I'll never go back.

Food is excellent and well constructed, but 4 stars because they don't have a wide selection of unique dishes. The service is great, but 4 stars because they use a qr code to access the menu. Also, when you order they ask you to pay which is fine, but they also ask you to tip before service has even started. The atmosphere is great though, it's a beautiful location on the second floor and most of the tables are in a large window allowing you to enjoy downtown Salem.
p.s. if you're over 6 feet tall, watch your head. the ceilings get pretty tight near the entrance.
