After eating here for 50 plus years, we learned the Baez family were retiring and closing our beloved restaurant. Were we sad, yes. But happy that the whole staff were able to retire and enjoy their life’s. Luckily we were able to made a trip and enjoy one last meal. (We took a trunk load home to freeze). So, to Hector, Luis and Jerry, THANK YOU!!!!

I have been eating at the Baez family restaurant since 1973. It is our families go to restaurant. I have been sad that the commercial st one closed but at least Lancaster was open. Last night my sister and I ate there: we waited almost two hours to eat and when we started getting hangry the staff was very defensive followed by fully ignoring us. When the food came the sauce was watered down; the quacamole quesadillas (my usual order for the last 50 years) there was almost no avocado and there was an excess of damp shredded lettuce but no tomato (which has always accompanied the quesadilla). My sisters black beans were clearly tipped from a can. Also our bill seemed high: almost $50 for two dinners with two sodas and no appetizers or booze. That said the Chile rellano was great; and the salsa was the usual yum. Not enough to bring me back any time soon. This was a disappointing experience to say the least. Disappointing food and service that I paid too much for.

Most mediocre Mexican food ever! My enchilada was wrapped in polenta not a tortilla and my plate was so laden with sauce that everything was saturated. I actually used my spoon to slurp it up like soup!

It's trippy the difference in experiences we have. Our table was served promptly, politely, and our food was deee-licious!! If I do say so myself, I am an expert on camerones al mojo de ajo (garlic prawns), and Casa Baez rates at the top of my list of all I've eaten in the past 25 years. Plus, I'm a very picky eater so I'm hard to please. And I can't wait to go back and order them again (and again)!! Luckily I live in Salem, so they will see me often.

Casa Baez has been my favorite go-to for Mexican food for quite a number of years. They are reasonably priced, and the god is amazing.

I've been going here since I was a little kid. Always the beef quesadilla with extra 'gravy'. So good!

On a Saturday night we got seated right away, and the servers were on top of taking our order, the place was clean, and the restrooms very clean. Food was delicious, and it's family restaurant very good vibes. Prices are very affordable.

Absolutely ridiculous service!! If I could give no star I would!!! When my group arrived, the workers made it extremely clear that they did not want to serve us. We have never had such rude servers at this restaurant before. We walked in and heard the servers talking about how big our group was. We were confronted with a server that told us with an attitude that they would not be able to sit our group together despite them having a whole unoccupied section where they usually seat our group with no problem. When we were leaving, my group had already left extremely good tips taking account the service we received- however one of the workers had the audacity to tell one of my family members if they weren’t gonna tip. My family member was rudely asked this two times before responding that our group already tipped- and the waiter was rude enough to say “You guys need to learn how to give better tips” I just want to say, tips are given when customers receive good service… the service we received today was far from that. So to the waiters, learn how to give better customer service in the future because it’s absolutely disgusting to talk back to customers like that, especially considering the fact that without customers you would have no job. We will not be coming here again! Mother’s Day was ruined!

After visiting this place for many years and enjoying my dinning experiences, TODAY was a complete disappointment and honestly a very disturbing experience as well. It’s Mother’s Day, so we had 18 of us celebrating the amazing mothers in our mist. Since we arrived, the host was very unfriendly and his tone of voice was very rude when addressing where we would be seated. They usually set up a table for our entire group but this time we were seated in three different tables, and keep in mind that half of the restaurant was unoccupied. As each set of family members was paying their parts and giving their tips( which most were very generous), one of my family members choose not to tip since he is in a though place right now financially. So the host looked at him and said bluntly and disgracing “Aren’t you going to tip? Aren’t you?”When my brother responded no, I told the host that the rest of the group had already tipped. The Host looked at me and said disgracefully “ You all need to be better tippers”. Keep in mind that we tipped as a family more than $45.I just couldn’t believe that someone would be so disrespectful towards their own customers, and talk down on them without knowing their current financial state.I was honestly abhor and greatly disappointed by this insensitive treatment.

The waiters were extremely disrespectful to me and my family. We’ve been coming here for years and have never experienced such poor service. It seemed like every single worker was in a bad mood. I’ll be sticking to a different Mexican restaurant from now on given the fact that this one’s not even that good and overpriced.!

I have been a customer at Casa Baez previously Los Baez for over 40 years it's a shame that the food has consistently went down hill since the change. Today was my absolute last time I will be eating there. The salsa which I have always loved tasted like it had been frozen and defrosted very bland almost no flavor. The refried beans tasted like they came from a can, my margarita tasted like frozen sweet and sour. Just horrible food and drinks. Such a disappointment after all these years.

I’d been to Casa Baez a few times recently and loved the food. Tonite, I met a friend there for dinner. It was 4 pm so there was only one other table. I started to choke on a chip and got up to try and locate a glass of water since none was offered at the table yet. The waiter was around the corner texting on his phone. I asked if he could bring us some water. He said, “Don’t you see I’m busy?” I was still coughing and he started to argue with me. I said I was going to mention this to the owner and he told me to never come back. He doesn’t have to worry about that.

Probably the least good Mexican food in Salem. Not, like, offensively terrible. Just really lacking flavor. This place is for people who also think Taco Bell is Mexican food. The only star is for the staff. Everyone there is super friendly, quick, and just generally cool. I hope they all move on to something better.
