It's been much too long between visits.... after a day of exploring the Salem area (okay, a day waiting for the 4:00 Chemeketa opening time) we did a couple of tastings and split a fantastic charcuterie board. We got to visit with the sheep that were trimming the grass in the vineyard, and enjoyed watching the sun go down from the patio.
The Chemeketa wine studies center has three programs - managing vineyards, making wine, and hospitality. All three come together beautifully with views of next year's crop, bottles full of previous year's crops, and food prepared and served with aplomb.
Check their web site for hours, and for special events. In the past, we've attended alumni events where we got to meet with winemakers who have moved their skills to local businesses.

Such a gem so close to Salem. Great view of the valley and great wine made through their viticulture program all at a great price. Try one of the charcuterie boards!

This place is beautiful. Super low key and laid back. Great if you are just getting into wine tasting. The staff was super nice and helpful. Go early if you want to have a nice private experience.

Staff was really helpful and friendly for the wine tasting. Great value. Awesome views. We got 2 flights and 2 bottles of wine (so one of the flights was free). Would return!

We had our wedding reception here and were extremely satisfied with this place. The staff were very helpful and professional, the grounds were stunning, and all our guests had a great time. We look forward to coming here more!

Tasty wines and shareable platters on the grounds of Chemeketa Cellars at The Northwest Wine Studies Centre. The tasting flight ranged from good to great. The view was beautiful and the staff knowledgeable. We bought two bottles of our favourite wines from the store.
