Chen's Family Dish is a wonderful surprise in an unassuming location. While what we first ordered wasn't what we expected, it was our own fault for not asking more about the dish. Despite that, they were so sweet about offering another dish and even taking the first off our check; all without us asking.Excellent customer service aside, Chen's has a very relaxing atmosphere and comfortable seating in booths or at tables. On top of that, our food was quickly served and very tasty. For more detail, we ordered the Sesame Chicken, which turned out to be more of a stir fry with onions. My wife has an onion allergy, but it was completely our fault for not asking. I've never seen Sesame Chicken served with onions, and I didn't consider it, but you never know! I was still happy with the dish overall, and she ended up getting the sweet and sour chicken instead. It was crispy, excellently breaded, and fried white chicken. With a fantastic sauce.Overall, it is a real hidden gem in Salem. If you're looking for great customer service in a soothing atmosphere with delicious food, give them a chance.Parking: We arrived at 7:30pm and found more than ample parking available.

We ordered the sesame chicken thinking it was made like Orange Chicken. When the server saw I wasn't eating much, she offered to replace it . The sweet and sour chicken, however, is awesome!White meat, warm s&s sauce...soon good! Like melt in your mouth ;)While my husband ate the sesame chicken and we took home all the left overs, they still removed it from our bill.I will definitely be returning.

Excellent food, calm, understated service and vibe. Lunch special is generous.
Stopped in while driving through town and so glad we did. Probably the best Chinese restaurant I've ever been to. The food was absolutely delicious and fresh tasting and the place was clean. We ordered a bunch of different dishes and I can't wait to eat all the leftovers! They also have pictures of each dish on the menu which makes it easier to pick what looks good to you.
Possibly the most bland Chinese I've ever had. I'm confused by the 5 star reviews. Mongolian had zero spice and next to zero flavor. Wife ordered Teriyaki chicken and it was pineapple chicken with a very light, barely noticeable Teriyaki glaze.

First time eating here n I definitely will be back ?
I ordered the Happy Family lunch special. It was very good. The Hot and Sour soup isn't spicy; however, it has a very pleasant flavor. And, the portion size of the soup was larger than any other Chinese restaurant I have been to.Parking: There is very little parking directly in front of the restaurant, so you may need to park and walk a bit.
Can't believe we waited so long to try this place out. Damn good food. Straight up. Going back soon. Pretty extensive menu. Too much to write about but you can check the menu online. They had three types of family dinners.Cantonese, which was more mild type stuff. Mandarin, which was spicier stuff. And the Hong Kong which was the spendier of the three at 18 bucks a person. We got Hong Kong.It was absolutely awesome with enough left over for lunch the next day.Oh and good Hot & Sour too.Looking for good Chinese, check this place out. Behind 7/11 on Lancaster & Sunnyview. And they have a full bar.1st edit,Returned this evening for our 2nd visit.Just as good. And though it wasn't listed on the menu, they made me Shrimp with Snow Peas. So good. Love this place!!

Our first experience at this establishment and it was a hit. The place was clean and pretty. They had wonderful relaxing music playing. The service was great. They were welcoming and helpful. The food was the best Asian food I have had since moving to the area a year and a half ago. The sweet and sour sauce wasn’t my favorite but decent and I was bummed there was no oolong tea or Jasmine. The portions were amazing. Two - three meals worth per plate. In todays economy, the price of the food was decent. Had a fantastic family night out.Wheelchair accessibility: Easily wheelchair accessible but I only saw one disabled parking spot.
