After living in Mexico for 7 years the bar for authentic food was pretty high. Chula Vista is true Mexican food and the best we've had in the US. Unfortunately we are only passing through Salem otherwise we would be regulars. The margarita was awesome also! Tortillas and salsa is made here and the food is fresh.

Wish i could give them a 0. Really rude, when told wrong orders was given the lady said you have to place a new order. Quezadilla was not fully cooked, caldo order was old . Dont go here.

The food is too homemade, I loved the meatballs and the salsa macha there, I feel like there should be something there. Plus, there is something that doesn't convince me, but other than that the food is quite recommendable, and they serve quite well eh!

We are looking for a Mexican restaurant to fill the void of our favorite one that recently closed after 40+ years. Chula Vista was good, fresh tortillas, pazole was good... just not what we're used to. I can't put my finger on it. Depth of flavor is lacking. We will try again. Imo, it was better than la hacienda...
