My husband and I have been visiting this coffee shop for about a year now. We love it EVERY time! We love the food, the cozy atmosphere, great customer service, lovely coffee! The traditonal Cuban coffee is like a sweetened shot of espresso with optional cream in a small cup and is super duper strong. If you want a more familiar coffee or non coffee drinks there are plenty of options. Plenty of yummy food, too! My favorites are the empanadas (shown in pic after opening it, it is like a meat pie) and the tamales. If you want to, you can park for free at the Riverfront Carousel across the street, or on the street around the block, or at the pay parking Air Garage near the intersection of Commercial and State street. This coffee shop is one of the most chill and cheerful spots in downtown Salem!

Concerning Incident Regarding Bathroom Access

Parents, please be aware of a concerning situation that occurred today.

I was parked outside waiting for my older children to finish a math class next door when my 8-year-old urgently needed to use the restroom. We entered the building and noticed that a café was open, with a restroom located approximately four feet from the café entrance. The café appeared empty, and no staff member was visible at the time.

I allowed my son to use the restroom while I stood outside the door in the hallway. After about a minute, the café staff member approached me and asked if she could help. I politely explained that my son was using the restroom. She responded angrily, stating that it was not a public bathroom. I replied that he would be finished shortly.

As she walked away the clear glass door closed, I then witnessed her open the locked restroom door and tell my son to get out. I immediately told her that this was completely unacceptable. There was no signage anywhere indicating that the restroom was not for public use. Another individual nearby overheard the interaction. The woman stated that she did not care.

The staff member was a woman approximately 60–70 years old with short hair. I found this interaction deeply inappropriate and concerning, especially involving a minor.

My coworker and I had struck up a conversation one day around the break table. Both he and I had seen Cuban Cafe while driving by on our daily commutes. On one cold and rainy day in Salem, we finally decided to give it a try.

I'm glad we did, for the lunch was great. I grabbed a Chai Tea and it was one of the best I've had in a long time. I was also super surprised at how good the tea was, when paired with the Cuban sandwich.

The sandwich was the perfect size, not too big to where I felt overly full. The flavor was great and it had a light but satisfying consistency all throughout the sandwich.

I would not say this is a favorite lunch spot, but, I would easily come back again and not eve think twice. Be sure tongive it a try and enjoy the nice and quiet atmosphere.

As a Cuban visiting from another state, it felt like a lil taste of home to walk in and be greeted by the literal most friendly Abuela in town. The food was amazing, service was delightful, and you literally can’t go wrong with a single menu item. Complete five star experience, and would absolutely be a mistake to not stop in when visiting Salem. Will be back again to see Antonia 💜

Antonia is a lovely human. She was so kind and welcoming. We all agreed, it felt like we were treated to a meal in her home kitchen. Food was unique, and the custom cocktails were refreshing. Do yourself a favor and get a Cubano! Hidden gem ❤️

I’ve tried a lot of Cuban sandwiches and this is by far the best Cuban I’ve ever had. Seems to be the most authentic. I’m excited to go back and try the empanadas. The lady working here seems to know her stuff! Thanks Cuban Cafe! I’ll be back

I've had a lot of Cubano sandwiches in my life and this one is one of the best. Pair it up with an iced chai tea or cold beer on tap and it's just about heaven. And, Antonia behind the counter is just the sweetest lady.
