Very relaxing atmosphere and staff made it feel like home. Will definitely be returning and have been recommending friends and family to come here.

I have been thinking of how I want to write this review up and you’ll see why you keep reading.

The customer service I thought was excellent. I chose to have a late lunch here and I had a half a sandwich soup and some tea. The food was a very nice portion when I thought of a small little bowl of soup and a little bitty half sandwich I thought I was gonna leave hungry but I did not. And the food was also very delicious.

So you might be asking, so what’s the problem?

So I received my bill halfway through eating I didn’t see anything where I got to have the option of dessert after all the name of the places let them eat cake so I thought that there would be cake options. But that’s a small thing

The biggest issue I would really have is there is nowhere posted for the customer to see that if you pay card like debit or credit card it’s going to be a higher fee than if you pay cash. Additionally, they put a 20% tip and added into the bill in almost a since that the customer doesn’t have the option to pay no tip or to pay a smaller percent than 20%. It is expected that the customer pays that full 20% or greater. And working with bureau of labour and industries that Oregon is one of those states that the employer cannot consider tips when it comes time for the employer to pay their employee hourly wages there are some states that are like that, but Oregon is not one of them, regardless of what you get in tips as a weight staff you will get your full hourly wage from your employer. The problem I have with this approach is one it’s not legal to mandate customers to give tips of any percent that’s an option where the host staff has gone above and beyond and you’re tipping to show that you acknowledge and appreciate that they’ve gone way out of their way and the experience was phenomenal, but mandating it where they’ve included it in the total is kind of a put off
I have gone to some restaurants where it gives you the total and then if you’d like to add 10% it’s this amount 15%. Here’s this amount 20% it’s this amount but it’s not added into the total at this restaurant. They add 20% in for you and expect you to pay it so that’s my big problem by law. I am not mandated and required to leave any kind of tip now keep in mind. I was going to leave a tip, but this did put me off that it’s just expected.

One could argue that the employer needs to be paying the employee the wage to live on tips are extra so while this is not legal to mandate and force customers into tipping it also doesn’t say anything anywhere that I could read none of the menu none of the front entryway nowhere until after the meal and you get the receipt so I would really like that to be changed and then I would be willing to come back fairly regular lane, but I agreed to pay a certain amount for the lunch. You can’t mandate me to pay a tip when I haven’t even had the experience yet and when you factor in that, the tip is guaranteed before I’ve even consumed the meal or even ordered that bothers me.

This place is the definition of charming. The staff are lovely, the atmosphere is delightful, the tea selection/taste are phenomenal, and the homemade soup is to die for. Would recommend for anyone wanting to have tea somewhere quaint, and delicious.

Friends and I made a reservation. But were ignored at the door. And the other guests were glaring at us. Told us there was a private event and were very rude. If they are going to hold a private event they need to have a sign up and a host at the door to check with guests. Very disappointed because it looked like a cute place to visit.

I cannot possibly express how much of a gem this tea room is. I was surprised with a date night here and it felt nothing short of magical. Entering the Reed Opera House in itself is an adventure but you are truly transported in this space. The atmosphere and attention to detail shine. From the twinkling lights above to the stunning mismatched china. Every bit as delicious as the tea and food selection. The food was incredibly fresh and made with care. The owner and chef even went above and beyond accommodating a shellfish allergy with the most scrumptious quail deviled eggs. A magical pairing to a magical spread. The tea selection was ample and delightful. The toasted coconut was devine. The staff were warm and welcoming and truly made us feel at ease and encouraged us to enjoy and take our time. I will be dreaming of this experience for some time to come. Thank you “Let Them Eat Cake” !

Lovely, cheerful, and relaxing experience. Reservation only which we booked by texting the phone number posted on their Instagram post. Atmosphere is perfect for two with plenty of seating, but also had groups of 3 or more accommodated while we were there. Had the Magical Butterfly Sweet Pea Flower Tea and Porch Sippin' Pecan Praline. Soup, sandwiches, and desserts were delightful.

Very unique experience! I didn’t know what to expect from a new business. I was extremely surprised & comfortable. The tea, soup & food came staggered & we didn’t feel rushed which was so amazing, we got to enjoy every part of the meal. Everything was delicious the place is beautiful! 🤤 It is a little warm down there so come in layers, they do have fans which was cute and beneficial! Can’t wait to go again ❤️

The food and the service were wonderful and I loved the cute atmosphere. The only thing that left a bad taste in my mouth is that when I got the bill, there was an extra charge that said “high tea.” This was in addition to the high tea for each of us that ate. When I asked her what this was she said that they added the gratuity onto the bill. Of course I was going to tip her anyway, but to put it on is very presumptuous and rude and kind of ruined the experience. Although it says $30 a person it’s actually more than that because they already had on the gratuity. You should also know that most of the tables only seat two people. We saw a party of five there but anything more than six she told us they could not accommodate.

The Birthday Girl wanted to go to Tea, so her generous Hubby took the three of us out to Let Them Eat Cake, a tearoom which is located in the built-out basement of the Reed Opera House in Salem, OR.

The Owner is Yvonne; she has personally created this enchanting space for us all to enjoy, and she also cooks and bakes everything that she serves!

Make sure to call ahead to reserve a time and date for your Tea. Yvonne creates the tea refreshments daily according to the booked reservations, so please do your best not to cancel.

The price is per person, and is well worth it. Tips are well-deserved; the service was fabulous and our server's attentiveness made us feel spoiled.

The tea selection has some of the usuals such as Earl Grey or Jasmine, but we found that we thoroughly enjoyed the more eclectic offerings, they were SO GOOD.
You will each choose your own tea, and it will be served piping hot in a large china teapot. The soup, tea sandwiches and desserts are all scrumptious and you will be completely delighted!

My friend and I came here and it was SO much fun! The atmosphere is whimsical and cozy, the tea is delightful, and the food is something straight out of a fantasy tea party. We got to talk a bit with the owner and you can tell she is so passionate about what she does and it translates into the service and quality. I am already plotting on who I can bring here next!

Fun whimsical themed tea room. Table clothes and cloth napkins. Mix and match china sets. Service was very friendly. Although the offerings for those of us with food allergies are limited. They did try to accommodate if possible. But it was a little disappointing to see a lovely spread and most of it I couldn't have. Expected for one kind of sandwich that I got extra of so I could have something, was very kind. I got an extra piece of cake cause I can't have the custards and other desserts. So the food I had was ok. I didn't enjoy the scones, in my opinion was more like a dry biscuit. The cake was also dry for my taste. I enjoyed the tea flavors, Snickerdoodle, Book Shop, and Sugar Plum. Afternoon tea was $37 per person. FYI, If you pay with a card there's an extra fee.
