McGrath's Fish House

Three is for the food portions. That was wonderful. If the service was good, I could give it a higher rating, but the service sucked. I had a seared ahi salad and asked for honey mustard dressing on the side but ended up with a drenched salad in a dressing that was quite foreign. I tried to tolerate it but the strong drenched dressing that floated in my salad was intolerable. I was so disappointed. We had some lovely warm sourdough slices of bread with a baby cup of butter for all 4 of us. I asked for extra butter and of course received none. The friends I was with had a very bad experience a couple of months ago with service too at this restaurant and if we did not invite them (our first and last time), they would not have stepped foot in their again. When carefronted the server of the mistake, he did not apologize but blamed the kitchen folks and went on his way. But my friend told him to say sorry for the error. I did not want a discount, just hoping the server would learn to be better when serving the next guests.

This has always been my all-time favorite restaurant to go to for many many years. As a matter of fact the evening crew know us very well . My husband and I have dinner there and a cocktail at least once a week . Today we walked in there just after 3 p.m. for happy hour. We were met with the lady named Jordan. She was absolutely the worst individual we'd ever encountered in that restaurant! My husband had decided to order something off the appetizer list and a beer. I decided I would just like to have some water and a salad off the regular menu. She said to me I'm sorry ma'am unless you order drink you can't have anything off their happy hour menu. It says right here. I begin to say my husband was ordering a drink and he's the only one ordering off that happy hour but she interrupted and pointed out again that it says it right here you both have to order a drink. Add some pretty ugly attitude to this and we ended up leaving immediately. We asked for the managers who were leaving and guess what character. The manager is her! How in the world does someone like that get in a management position! Many reasons crossed my mind. But I decided I would leave ask for her manager and right to corporate about this because like I said my husband and I have been going in there for many many years and always been treated very well. It only takes one bad apple to send away a long-time customer for good!

Tonight we came in order drinks, and I ordered a sirloin steak medium rare. It came medium well and I could barely cut through it, incredibly small as well. I asked them for a new one, and when it came it was absolutely raw!. I asked for the manager luis, he came with an attitude and told me next time don't order steak well not a steakhouse. I will be talking to the owner this time! She's a very sweet lady and she would not tolerate this kind of behavior. Noted our waitress was incredible! Very attentive, kind and on the ball.

Do not order take out. I ordered a cup of soup and a dinner salad. what a joke. My cup of soup consisted of 3/4 cup of soup. The salad was in a sandwich box. The bread consisted of 2 slices. I am more than a little miffed. Nice appertizer. Guess I'll see what I can fix mom for dinner.

The 2 stars are for the chicken strip meal. We’ve been eating those here for the last several years,we were in Oct. 3rd and husband ordered those. They were average not as good as they have been in the last several yrs. Actually the last time about 4-5 months ago not great either. I think they use to take a chicken breast and pound it out ,maybe cut in half also and then bread them, there was more chicken and tastier,more crunchy. So, if you have changed your recipe or cooks ,you need to go back to the old way,much better. My fish n chips were great though.

McGrath was memorable. Salmon and shrimp were cooked to perfection. Service excellent. Ambiance excellent as well. We can't wait to go back!

McGrath's is truly the best for amazing food in Salem.

It used to be a great spot with excellent food 🐟, but lately, the food quality has gone down, and the prices have increased 💸. On a positive note, the service has remained good 😊.

My husbands choice. He loves seafood! They had a good selection and the service was great! The fried clams i ate were soft and gave a soggy texture. But he loved his surf and turf. Plus the fries were yummy!

Wife and I where for a date , we waited over 20 minutes no even 1 server ask us for if we wanted something to drinks we where just got ignored, they sit a table next to us, and they ask them right away for their drinks and stared while they just keep ignoring us, so what it’s the issue it’s because we are Latinos and no white , or what sup, do this place understand that Hispanic have money just like white people do, wife and I literally stand up left and when across the street to red lobster, if you are Latino and young just save your money and don’t come here, what it’s funny they delete my previous review ridiculous

Service was good. Food not really worth it. Cold mashed potatoes. Oysters were big but super mushy. Probably won’t be returning.
