I got there with my son and was seated quickly. Read menu and was ready to order. 10 minutes goes by. Others were sat down next to us.
They ordered and got their food. While we still sat and waited. 30 minutes We up and left. I've never done this before . BUT I ve never waited close too a half hour , for water or any kind contact

Black Bear is my favorite diner in Salem and that’s why this is so disappointing. I ordered my Scrambowl per usual with a side of biscuit and gravy. The biscuit came without gravy and I swear half the Scrambowl was jalapeños. It’s like they dumped the whole jar in there. Idk what’s going on Black Bear but every time I order through DoorDash my order is wrong.

My husband and I went to Black Bear Diner for breakfast for the first time. Oh my goodness, the food was really good and in really large portions. My husband is 6'4 and loves large portions of good food. He was not disappointed at all to say the least. The service was great, there were lots of people there but we didn't wait long for our orders. We will definitely come back.

First time here this morning. I had a steak dinner and friend had meatlovers omelette. Service from Tiffany was great! I will definitely be returning.

I love black bear the food is always good and service is standard good quality service. I found a hair in my fries and the worker handed me a brand new hot and fresh batch in minutes.

There is at least 3/4ths of the restaurant in use. Their food is always good.

This is a great place for good food with ample portions and fast friendly service. Depending on time of day, there may be a waiting list of up to 40 minutes. The hostess will take your name and cell number so that you can be texted when your table is ready. I have yet to wait the predicted amount of time - it has always been less; the staff is quite efficient.

Taking one star off because some of our food came out cold. Cold potatoes. Our server Katy did her best to make it right and fix the issue. They came out a second time still Cold. Food should come out hot. It wasnt our servers fault! Regardless my wife and I still had a good time. I asked to speak to a manager so I could give Katy high praise, but the manager was busy doing something. Oh well decided to come on here instead.

Terrible first impression. I waited about 15 minutes just standing at the host stand and no one ever acknowledged me. This was a Thursday evening and fairly busy, but during that time I watched the host seat at least four other tables and not once say “I’ll be right with you” or even make eye contact. All I needed was to put my name in. After 15 minutes of being completely ignored, I left. Unfortunately, I never even got to try the food because this was my first (and likely last) time at Black Bear Diner. Basic acknowledgment goes a long way, and this experience was extremely disappointing.

*Edit 2/9 - I emailed this black bear diner, as the response stated they wanted to try to make it better. No response to the email what so ever. Straight ghosted me. Second round of disappointment and dissatisfaction. Will not be recommending this location to anyone. And I will be forwarding this experience to the next level up.

One hour and thirty minutes waiting. Just to be told that our order was lost. No food.

30 minutes of that was is waiting to be seated, we agreed to it so I can’t really be upset about that. But an hour wait on food that never came. After being told by the server that it should be ready. But it never came. What a disappointment.

My only complaint is the bright lights.

Really good food, large plates, good service. I really wish they had put a black bear in Keizer or North Salem

Black Bear Diner in south Salem hands down is the best place to eat in Salem! Not only is the food amazing, with HUGE portions you can’t seem to finish, the staff is extremely kind! Shout out to TIFFANY, thank you for being so sweet and on top of everything! You’ve been my server twice now, and both times you were working a double shift! Thank you for your smile and awesome energy that you bring to the table with you! 😁
