I've never been to a pub before. When I asked for a vegetarian colcannon with no cabbage, the waiteress patiently explained that I was asking for mashed potatoes.Needless to say, it was an authentic pub experience. The music and atmosphere were great, people were chatting and it's fun to peoplewatch theater-goers out there in the cold. I bought a shirt, an irish cream cake and a cottage pie to go.Thank you for not telling me to feck off.Shoutout to Ahmed! The fried mushrooms were perfect.Vegetarian options: It's pretty much just the vegetarian colcannon and most sides. Fear not though: all the beer is vegetarian.

Walked in on a Saturday night. 3 tables had people and there was a 2 piece band. Excited. Was yelled at by only waitress we saw as we walked toward bar but decided on a table. “I’m supposed to seat you but go ahead I guess” would you like us to wait? “No sit you were going to anyway” there was no sign present to wait.Sat for a min and she threw menus on table and said “no meatloaf” and walked away. Returned to talk to table next to us that wee either her friends or regulars. So we left.Awful first impression.Had high hopes but alas she was clearly uninterested in any business we had to offer.edited for realism, after the terrible service we gave her the finger on the way out.I’ve never been treated so poorly in a restaurant before and I’ve been to Ed Debevics where you pay for rudeness and grew up in Boston Mass where we’re known to be jerks. This was uncanny. And if you read other reviews each poor review she yells back at you. This is a common theme.

I went here last year in around July or August 2023, but forgot to write a review, so here it is.I got bangers and mash, which, really, most of the food is almost already cooked for you ahead of time. The potatoes were *COLD* inside, the entire dish was not even hot. The sausages were room temp. The mashed potatoes were almost cold in the middle. Do you realize how hard it is to actually have cold mashed potatoes? Potatoes hold heat a LONG time. I feel like they didn't even bother really warning the stuff up much.I informed the staff/cook and they remade the entire dish, thankfully the second time it came to my table nice and properly hot.So, thus far, I was not impressedIt was a slow day there, my wife and I were the only customers at the time. I think they were trying to conserve "resources" or something, heat must have been included in that. The owner said they didn't have any stew because they need to prepare that ahead of time and they don't want to waste it if they didn't have enough customers. I mean...yes logically that makes sense, but on the other hand, it doesn't make the place very inviting when you are nickle and diming, when you do that, trust me the customers notice, and they won't be back.

The experience would have been better if the waitress was not so intimating, outspoken, opinionated. Food was good. Musician fabulous.

The actual available menu items were only 20-30% of the online menu - and excluded everything we'd been expecting to order - the more interesting dishes. The Bantrey Special hadn't been stir fried long enough to soften the cabbage any/in the least; or warm the sausage centers above room temp. The cheese cake was grainy - the liqueur topping insufficient to add the desired/expected flavor. The "cod" in the fish-and-chips was likely Pollock (from the flavor and texture, and yes a member of the cod family - Gadus Pollachius); but not a real Cod one would expect at an Irish eating establishment [that one can readily get on the Oregon coast - Gadus macrocephalus] - like being served Chum as Salmon (vs Sockeye, Coho, Chinook).

I am a newer customer and have fallen in love with this place. You cannot find very many family owned restaurants these days and I hope they stay forever! My family and I have shared just about everything and have never had anything we didn't like. Come try Sister's or you're missing out.

I ordered the Guinness fish and chips and the whiskey peach cobbler. The fish was so over fried that they were almost black. They were supper greasy and I couldn't taste any Guinness. The fries were cold and soggy. The peach cobbler was made with canned cling peaches. The cobbler was cold and gummy. There was no flavor of any kind. The entire meal went into the garbage. It was a waste of money.

Cozy Irish bar in Salem's downtown. The Black and Tan as well as the Black and Gold were awesome. And we enjoyed the Shepherds Pie.

Absolutely fabulous. In Salem on business. I place a take out order. I couldn't decide between Irish shepherd's pie and bangers and mash so I had a little bit of each. Five star all the way ! Delicious !!!

The only good thing about the restaurant was the people we ended up sitting next to. DO NOT GO. When we arrived the service staff was extremely hostile about us finding a place to sit because they were busy, which is fine, but there was no need to be rude to us about it. A nice couple invited us to sit with them because all the tables were full and that was the only good thing about the whole experience. The server explained that most of the menu was unavailable, which again, annoying but fine. Me and my partner ended up splitting a fish and chips. When it arrived they did not give us napkins, any condiments, or anything else. When I asked for condiments they snarkily responded "why?" they then brought a empty bottle of ketchup so I asked for a different one and they responded by huffing and asking why. They finally brought it but the whole thing repeated when we asked for napkins. The fish and chips themselves were also horrible. I don't know what they batter the fish with but it tasted off and the fish was strangely wet without the breading. The fries were fine but I didn't go to have fries, I could have gotten just as good at a fast food place for half the cost. Suffice to say I will not ever be going back and I would warn everyone in my life to avoid this place.

Went for lunch. Apparently it is fried food only at lunch time but that was okay because I wanted the fish and chips. Was terrible! I know the employee was alone so I don't blame her, but I can make fish and chips a million times better. I'm sure some of the other dishes would have been a better choice had they been available. Atmosphere was dark and odd. Again, it was lunch time so I'm sure it's better for dinner, but dinner is never an option for me. There was no salt and pepper, no lemon, no offer for cream or sugar for my coffee. Maybe that isn't tradition in Ireland. Isn't somewhere I'd go back too. I make a lot of the dishes on the menu but wanted to take my friend to lunch somewhere we hadn't been.
