The food here is decent. We eat here a couple times a year and it's very consistent. The service is good also. The area is pretty small and can get very crowded. Like all sunriver restaurants we try to avoid peak times of year.

I want to like this place but the service was questionable.
It was a busy Tuesday evening when we stopped in. The young lady at the counter let us know if would be about a 30 minute wait. We thought this wouldn't be an issue so left our phone number and she promised to call when a table inside was ready.
45 minutes later we decided to go back and check in. There are currently 3 empty tables inside. The young lady clears a table outside for us and we remind her we wanted an indoor table. We get shown to a booth. No explanation on why she never called.
The young man who was our waiter was great. He did forget to put alcohol into one of our drinks but he owned that and remade it. Again, he was great.
Food was fine. The camarones was 60% mushroom and you had to do some hunting to find the shrimp.
The tables are packed in tight as you'd expect from a place trying to maximize those vacationer dollars.
Overall if you went in when it wasn't busy you might like it more.

I ordered takeout from El Caporal on Saturday August 2nd over the phone at 7pm. I was told my order would take 15-20 minutes, I showed up to the restaurant 20 minutes after the phone call on the dot. I was told my food was not ready, I waited another 20 minutes in the restaurant with no communication from the staff. Someone actually walked in after me to place a to go order and received his food before I did. There were hardly any staff in the restaurant helping the tables who were seated. This is the worst service I have experienced in Sunriver. I do not recommend eating here or ordering food from here. The restaurant is clearly mismanaged - read the misspelled, broken replies from the owner on reviews below to see what I mean.

Staying in Sun River for vacation and thought we would give it a try. It was a great experience, the food was awesome. I got the chicken nachos and they were phenomenal, the service was great, as we had a great waiter. If you are in the area or even out, I would definitely recommend.

$42 for take out for 2 before tip.
Tostada was a container with meat and veggies and a bag of chips on the side - no actual tostada in the container…
Chimichanga was the first I’ve had that wasn’t deep fried. It was a flour tortilla stuffed with meat and covered in lettuce and chopped tomatoes.
It was filling but I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone.
Great food large portions cozy atmosphere. You won’t be disappointed

We came to visit my little sister and her husband for the 4th of July. I'm always up for Mexican food! Or order was incorrect but they did try to fix it. The ingredients for the taco salad seem to not be the current ingredients served so that was interesting. But the food was good! Came time for bills, they were all mixed up! Would I go back, maybe but not when it's so loud and busy because some of the mix up might have been from the noise!

I ordered chips, salsa and guacamole for 4 people to go and it costs $40. I was in shock. The chips were stale, cold and took them 25 minutes to complete that order. $12 for an order of stale chips, $10 for a small order of salsa and and $18 for a side of guacamole. I would never go to this place again.

Super disappointing. We dropped $70 on enchiladas and fajitas. The I did get the special prime rib fajita steak, and it was about a third gristle and fat, and the meat portion was over cooked. They also did not include tortillas, which was very frustrating. In addition to this, the enchiladas were ridiculously salty and just not good.
Update: I went in to get my tortillas. Which they gave me. I also mentioned the steak. Direct quote from the restaurant, “you should never order prime rib from a Mexican restaurant.” Ok, fine, then don’t offer it as an option. It will probably save you money and disappointed customers. They did give me carne asada steak as a replacement.
