Gave 5 ⭐️ because the food and service were great but I won’t go back because of the unrealistic pricing. The food is fine and the coffee tastes good, but the pricing is outrageous. $5.75 for a plain cup of coffee? That’s not just expensive, it feels predatory. What used to be a bustling bakery with lines out the door is now practically empty, and it’s easy to see why. Starbucks charges $3.35 to $4.30 for coffee, and their higher-priced cup actually delivers better margins. On top of that, Starbucks offers employees benefits and tuition reimbursement. So how does Hot Lava justify charging 34% more with none of those advantages? If this is some kind of “surge pricing” gimmick, like Uber during the holidays, it’s a terrible strategy. Customers aren’t going to tolerate being gouged for basic coffee, and the empty tables prove it. At this rate, it’s no surprise local spots like this are struggling to survive.

Tiny place with big energy. Menu was different at shop compared to online, due to the food being pre-made elsewhere. Maybe this is temporary or only during the off season, idk.
Scones and coffee were good!

We got two coffees, a cinnamon roll and an empanada. All are absolutely delicious. This coffee is both more affordable but better than other locations in town. And the cinnamon roll is so good!

So good!
Prepare for lines on the weekends.
Only note the cinnamon twists are undercooked.

The lattes (best around, by far) are only part of the story. Delicious baked goods. Cupcakes, cinnamon buns, donuts etc…are all exceptionally well done. Have tried a couple of the sandwiches too, and they are really outstanding!!! My fave is the Broken Top. There may be a line up when you visit (it’s that kind of good), but it moves quickly. Staff are always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable! Bonus: lots of parking and seating inside and out.

This place has the best doughnuts! We always visit when in Sunriver. Limited inside seating (1 table), so bring a jacket if it’s cooler.

Amazing! The best empanadas I have had, and are world class for sure. The pastries are equally fabulous.
Don’t miss out on this gem on your visit to Sunriver. The love shows in the food.
Thanks, Cecilia………You’re appreciated. : )

I only tried one item but it was delicious! I will be back for the gluten free chocolate macaroon. There seemed to be a few other gluten free items as well including a cookie and scone.

We came here and the food was delicious. Service was a bit slow and took some time to get food but this was due to a surge in orders and traffic on a Sunday morning. All of their pastries and sandwiches were very good. Scones were next level.

I would recommend that they add more seating outside. It is a bit expensive but the product is excellent.
