The server was nice; she seemed busy so when we had issues with our food or wanted additional food it took a bit to get her attention. The food was VERY disappointing, especially for the cost. We ordered steak frites medium rare and the fish and chips. It took about 45 minutes to come out and the steak was very well done, instead of medium rare. The tartar sauce has Tabasco sauce in it, which isn't listed in the menu, which was very frustrating to discover. We sent the steak back, and a new steak promptly came out, cooked properly. 30 minutes after that, we got the attention of the server to ask for dessert menu. We were told the specialty sorbet was pineapple, which we ordered. It took another 15 minutes for it to come out, and the sorbet was definitely not pineapple. Waited again for the server to come and requested the correct dessert. All together, we spent 2 hours at the restaurant having to wait extra time for the correct food to be delivered. The tab for this lackluster meal was $125. Will not be going here again.
We waited an hour for food on memorial day evening. Staff apologized and said they were having trouble with a new system in the kitchen. Still unacceptable. they were not busy and we sat down early at 5:30. The food was just OK. Three kids ordered pasta from the kids menu. they were served a Small bowl of pasta and that's it. No fruit on the side no carrots on the side no garlic bread on the side nothing, extremely boring.
We have been coming to Sunriver for over twenty years. We have always enjoyed the lodge and the owls nest. This weekend we had dinner there two nights in a row. The service was absolutely horrific. Both times we waited for our food for over 45 minutes. When we finally got our food it was cold. It took another 15 minutes to get our check. By the way. The restaurant was empty. Not sure what is going on, but we will not be returning anytime soon!
We had the Rueben and the Fried chicken Sandos. Sent to our room. And we were hungry after traveling all day. Not good. Fries were cold and we only ate half of each Very Dry sandwich. Very disappointing for a $25 sandwich. Will avoid this place for Breakfast
I thought the wings were not so great and over priced($3.50 ea.). I come here very year around the same time, and it seems prices keep going up, but the quality isn’t there. You can find better food down the road for less.
Our server Taylor was absolutely wonderful. She was thoughtful, attentive, and very familiar with the menu. One of the best places I have been served! Stellar service !
Very disappointed with quality of focaccia veggie sandwich for the exorbitant price!
Lots of bread small amount of filling.
Ended up throwing up all night after eating here. Don’t know if it was the water, food or condiments but I will never come back! Thanks for that!
I never received my food. After an hour I wanted to cancel my order but wasn't sure if they had started it or not. I pulled out my credit card to ask for it to go if it was ready since it was now 8:30 p.m. and I was ready to go to bed. I hadn't eaten since breakfast, drove four hours to get there, and I was now just too wiped out to eat. A gal swooped in and charged my meal promptly before I was able to stop her and explain to her I hadn't received my meal. I finally was able to get my meal to go despite my snotty waitress who said it was just coming up. It didn't just come up. Fries were cold. I guess my measly cheeseburger and fries would not have yielded the tip of larger tables around me who ordered and finished their meals before mine was delivered. Since my conference will provide breakfast and lunch today, checkout is at 11:00, and I won't be able to keep this meal cold or warm it on the road before I return home late tonight, this $24 cheeseburger will go in the garbage uneaten upon checkout.
Disappointing Experience – Inconsiderate Staff & Overpriced Food
I had high hopes for this restaurant, but unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired.
The food was disappointing. My hamburger was overcooked, with a poor bun-to-meat ratio, making for a dry and unbalanced bite. I would have sent it back, but the indifferent attitude of the staff made me hesitant to do so. The soup? I’ve had better from Safeway. They also only offer standard hot sauce, which felt like a missed opportunity for better flavor.
To top it off, the prices are extremely high for such subpar quality. The one redeeming factor? The French fries were good. But good fries alone aren’t enough to justify the cost or the lackluster service. I am staying at the resort through the week and hoping to avoid returning.

We had dinner at Owl’s Nest this evening, and while some aspects were fantastic, others left us disappointed.
First, the positives—the staff was great: friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The atmosphere is beautiful, though a bit dimly lit for our taste. As for the food, we started with an oyster shooter, which was top-notch, even for someone who doesn’t typically enjoy oysters. The burger on a gluten-free bun was also fantastic—juicy, flavorful, and well-prepared.
However, the Caesar salad was a major letdown. When it arrived, we honestly thought it was a joke. It consisted of about 12 whole leaves of lettuce stacked on top of each other, with a sprinkle of Parmesan, salt, and pepper—no dressing in sight. The plate was massive, yet the salad itself was no bigger than a small side portion. After realizing the dressing was missing, we had to ask for it separately. For $18, this was unacceptable. We have no problem paying for a good salad, but at that price, it should be tossed properly, well-portioned, and actually feel like a full dish—not just a pile of plain lettuce on a plate.
Overall, we had a mixed experience. The service, ambiance, and some dishes were excellent, but the salad was a major disappointment. With a few adjustments, this place could be great, but as it stands, we’d be hesitant to order certain items again.
Ate here 3-4 times over our trip last week. Great selection of food & drink. Morgan & Molly were both really fun and great bartenders. Only complaint is that some of the food and drinks are very overpriced comparatively but I also understand these are how resorts make their money. Thank you.
Restaurant is advertised as walk-in only.
We arrived and decided to wait the 45 minute wait. Upon our arrival, 3 small (4 top ) tables were open in the bar area and 1 large (12 top) table was being held for guests that had not arrived yet.
30 minutes later, all of those tables remained unoccupied.
I returned to the hostess stand and expressed my displeasure, but the hostess replied “we texted them, but they’re not here yet “.
Bottom line: the hostess held ”walk-in” tables for people who had not arrived in 30 minutes, while turning away guests on premises.
Great servers, beautiful environment. I don't drink but the others that were drinking did enjoy themselves. The Cola on tap was good 👍
Couldn't even get in for a drink without a 2 hour wait but there was tons of bar seats open. I get it was busy with the big grand illumination, but we just wanted a drink.
